The "tastes" on this forum make me smile every year

Each year on the X-Factor it’s the same.

There’s often around 4 or 5 standout acts that are head and shoulders above the rest, and there are always some members on the forum who hate some, or all, of those acts and sincerely believe that they shouldn’t have even been put through.
For example, I’ve just seen a couple posts that said neither Alexandra, Laura or Austin were good enough to go through to the live shows. Which to the majority, I’m sure, it is completely baffling.
While people that feel that way are quite within their rights to express their opinion of course, and may be totally convinced, I find it totally fascinating.

I know people have different tastes and like very different types of music etc. but this whole show is really only one "type" of music.

What do you think?
Is it just a case of differing likes and dislikes? Or is it more of a physical thing with the way an individual's hearing works? Or maybe even being "tone deaf"?
I guess a lot of the opinions will be down to that word I keep hearing on here and wish I didn’t "Personalities".
Personality Does not effect what your voice sounds like. imo

I just find it all very interesting

its a forum, theres a few who post because they want to start arguments and people also seem to form views based on personality rather than talent.

Ah, the old "Taking up a contrary position" Argument.

But, an argument is an intellectual process. Contradiction is just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says.

Sorry, slipped into python mode for some reason

You make a good point.
I forget where I am sometimes

While I can't stand Austin, I understand why he got through, he has a very good voice (Eoghan not so much)- and Alexandra and Laura are brilliant.
That said personality does have some effect, the X Factor isn't just voice, we're also meant to actually think the artist is likable, people don't sell if everyone hates them and I think that's where the problem with Austin is, he wouldn't sell that well past the winner's single based on what we've seen so far because he seems like a right sniveling weasel!

Understood, and well put, but at least you recognise that he has a good voice
It's those that don't which make me

I do get how the personality thing can effect the public voting, and potentially effect the "selling power" of that particular artist. But look at some of the dross that's currently out there making a living and winning awards for it
