Could be a temporary signal problem could be that the tuner in the LG is not as good as the box it replaced. Try the TV with a direct connection to the aerial input (no video/dvd recorder in-between) and see if that helps.
Have a look on the BBC website to see if any transmitter work is being carried out. The reason that C5 and it sisters can't be picked up is because the frequency that they are broadcast on is less powerfull or has more inteference that the other stations.

Swap them around and rescan the digital channels on the LG, that'll tell you if it's a poor signal problem.

All tuners including digital have different sesitivity, it sounds as if the LG tuner is simply less sensitive than the Freeview box. Therefore it does sound as if the Aeriel is the problem. If the Aeriel is around 8-10 years old then the chances are it's not a digital wideband but a regional narrow band which he was lucky enough to have working with the set top box. I would suggest he gets the aeriel checked by a reputable company to confirm.

hi iv just bought a freeview box but it wont work on my tv.. my tv has 1 scart socket and an aerial bit to. my freeview box has 2 scart sockets, tv/vcr socket and antennae socket. every thread i read says about using a dvd/vcr player but i dont want to do this. when i plug the scart in it automatically goes onto av1 but leaves me with a blue screen and nothing else.
i have tried tuning it in to a tv channel like 6 but it gets no results either. i hope someone can help and i will be very grateful for a reply thanx.

Connect scart from Freeview box (TV scart out) to TV (scart in). Connect TV aerial to Freeview box RF in. Connect second RF cable from Freeview box RF out to TV RF in. Select AV1 on TV. Tune Freeview box in. Watch Freeview.

Forget channel 6 bollox - if your Freeview box has got two scart outs, it's unlikely to also output its digital signal via an RF modulator (which would allow you to tune your TV to the Freeview signal via the TV aerial and channel 6).

What exactly do you think RF in is if not an aerial input? And why would you expect RF out on a TV?

I've already told you how to connect them. Aerial from roof to Freeview box. Aerial lead (also known as RF lead seeing as it's not directly connected to your roof aerial) from Freeview box to TV. Scart from Freeview box to TV.

Which suggests that your Freeview box hasn't been tuned in properly (or isn't even switched on).

Probably. You could try connecting it to somebody else's telly to see whether it's a problem with the scart input on your TV first. If it only comes up with a blue screen on their TV too, then there's a fair bet that it is a problem with the STB rather than the TVs.
