Of course it's about manipulating the viewers. That's the whole purpose of Reality TV. They show you the bits THEY want you to see to make the participant fit the character they have given them.
Of course it's not real. Why would they want to show you the truth? X Factor is not about finding the most talented singer , it's about making a Saturday night TV show. The byproduct of that is someone winning a £1 million recording contract.
The media is all about manipulating the public.

Another byproduct is an entertaining Saturday night TV show that millions of people enjoy watching. I watch it and don't feel THAT manipulated. In fact in terms of organisations that manipulate the public, I'd put the entertainment side of the media pretty low down my list.

So do I. She's a bit of a handful, but she's talented. She could self-destruct at any minute, but I'm willing her not to. I'd love her to do herself proud.

I agree with every word you say. Also, it would be a real shame if she were to throw this all away. It's going to get tough as the weeks go by, let's hope she manages to see sense to remember why she entered the competition in the first place.

Apparently she has an attitude problem and is disrepectful.
Alternatively she could be seen as sparky, questioning and not willing to be walked all over.
Either way, she is certainly not bland so maybe she will self destruct, maybe she will go on to great things on her own terms - but at least it will be an interesting journey for her and for us.
