Why is Rachel's past being thrown in her face all the time?

I've never known anything like it. It's like mob mentality. You have a woman who did wrong when she was younger but is now trying to achieve her dream and make things right.

Isn't she the exact type of role model that people who were in Rachel's shoe's would and could now inspire to be for actually turning her life around? that's no bad thing.

Instead we have people on here who seem to live like they are from Stepford town and have clean living lives. When I very much doubt anyone is that sqeaky clean.

As I said in the other thread - I believe that she has been set up for a fall. They see someone who has no chance in surviving the pressure of fame and who they think will spiral out of control. Therefore they get more sensational stories in the press (more PR for the show) she will kicked off, leaving Danni one act down.....with less chance of winning..... The hope is that Danni will then b*gger off after this series leaving the door open for Sharon to return. Double bubble!

Cynical....moi??

LooooL people are acting like she has killed someone, its absolutely pathetic the only thing people have said against her is shes taken drugs shes had 5 kids and its all about her past. this is all what this boils down too.

I actually don't care about her past drugs and having babies at 13.

What gets up my nose and puts me off her is her attitude and behaviour.

She messed up again at the judges' home but still got through. I don't think she'll survive the live shows.

I can't see people voting for her over the younger more likeable contestants.

Don't like her voice anyway and not sure the mixed age group of voting public will warm to her.

Still I'll give her a chance and see how she gets on. The rest is up to her.

I see your point and I would have agreed had Simon not been so big on second chances regardless of what you have done in your past. While I know is he is shit (in the nicest possible way) business wise. I don't think that's his plan for her. I think he just wanted a different sort of artist this year. Hence why so many unique voices are through. Instead of the usual style.

That, to me, seems fake. Just my viewpoint on it.

Are you going to take a hissy fit every time someone criticizes her?
Amy86

Look, I respect the fact that you like her but people are allowed not to, you know? It's called freedom of speech. You're going a tad overboard with the love aren't you? Do you know her? Or are you an ex druggie/teenage mum and you can see where she's coming from? I don't mean to be unkind/personal but your posts do make me wonder....

I'll be brutally honest ; I don't like unfit, single mothers. Or should that be I don't like unfit, single mothers, who also substance abuse? No, wait! What I really mean to say is 'I don't like unfit, single mothers, who substance abuse and then appear on a reality TV and use their troubled past (which for the record let's not forget is entirely her own fault) to try and win said reality tv competition. I think her time would be better spend trying to do something productive like finding some form of employment, kick the habit and try carve out a better life for her and more importantly her children. Lest we forget that they are the biggest victims here.

I think you're missing one important factor here...Rachel can actually sing. She has talent and is going to use it to better her life for her family. Why not? The past is just that. Live for today, the now, and not then.

No actually the producers ask her to talk about it. Doesnt it strike you odd that someone who is desperate to put her past behind her will randomly start talking about her past? Geesh incredible how some viewers are so easily manipulated into what the producers feed them.

Oh and to answers the Op's questions, we are all innately a bunch of judgmental pricks. Oh. Some of us try to kick the habit.

Well that's subjective. I happen to think she's mid table mediocrity. Just my opinion though and I accept that many people will think differently. However, the next David Bowie she ain't is something I think we can all agree on.

I happen to think she has a good voice. Who needs another DB? At least Rachel isn't trying to sound like anyone else.

I for one hope that this X Factor provides us with the next Jagger or Bowie. God knows how much the British music scene could do with a few characters like Jagger and Bowie.

For a J or B one would require a different talent show and I wouldn't have thought you'd have judges like Dannii, Cheryl, Louis or Simon on the show. A show like the 'Old Grey Whistle test' not sure how many on here remember this?

She said all she wanted was another chance to do something with her life.,.. Well she got another when she left prison,... I suppose getting her kids back was another,.. then another when she auditioned... then another when she got lippy at boot camp, now if the allegations are true she will want another.!

When will enough be enough ?

So do I - it's an area I work in but that doesn't automatically mean that I like her as a person. I just get a horrible vibe from her. She just doesn't come across a very nice person to me.
