AKAI MPD 24 , needing help
Juan Carlos Ara

Sorry if this is not the right place for asking about it.

I have jut bought a sampler , an Akai MPD24, which it is supposed to be a plug and play device, but it is going to kill me because I dont know how to make it work.

It needs to be connected to my computer via USB and that is what I have done.

But there is no more after that. I donīt know what comes next, how to configurate it or make it work propperly.

This is it :

I want to know if anybody owns it and know how to make it work . I dont know if I need drivers or so. My computer works with Windows XP and I wonder if this sampler needs a better or higher computer.

Any information and experience would be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

I have one of those and it is wonderful.

First thing to point out though is that it is not a sampler. It is just a controller. You'll need to be running some software on your computer to actually do the sampling part. I guess the first most important question is which software are you using for that? (For example I use it to control Reason and Ableton Live at the moment).

Thank you so much for the helping, Greg.

Now I have the device working and using the BFD Lite software for making it work.

Glad to hear it. What's the latency between you hitting a pad and hearing the sound like?

If it's anything other than instantaneous you might want to consider installing some ASIO drivers. For example, on my laptop I use the ones from http://www.asio4all.com/ which reduce the latency from the point where there is a noticable delay to to the point where it feels really nice and responsive.

I have installed some of those drivers and the response is almost instantaneous. In fact, that is the way I could it manage.
