Old pets?

Just curious.

Some animals (tortoises spring to mind) can live a loooooooooong time!

So, how long has everone had and/or how old are some peoples pets?

Do we have some OAPs (Old Age Pets) in here?

Our oldest moggy is still only 10 or 11 (she was a stray so we don't know exactly how old she is) so still just middle aged .... well, maybe late middle age. We've had her for 9 years.

My oldest snake is about 17 or 18. I bought him when he was 'about' 1 but again, don't have an exact age. His missus is definitely 16 though. She'll be 17 next January. I paid for her when she was still an egg in late 1991 so I know exactly how old she is.

The oldest pet i've ever had was my dog jj who died when she was 17 my other dog rupert had to be put down when he was 2 so he didn't live long and thankfully my other pets are still alive.

Our gerbil Dinky is 5 1/2 which doesn't sound so old compared to cats and dogs, but it's pretty good going for a gerbil.

His brother died 3 years ago.

My gorgeous boy Raffles (dog) sadly passed away when he was approx 17 years old. He really was the loveliest old boy...... I'm still thankful to this day that he passed away by himself, and that I was with him, rather than having to make the decision for the vet to do the deed

There ya go!

Knew a tortoise person would appear eventually and claim the crown!

Have to admit, when I bought my snakes, I didn't actually realise they may live into their mid 20's. Not that it'll be a problem for me .... thankfully! (I thought they lived around 15 years, although I'm not sure where I picked that figure up? No internet - at least for me - for easy checking of these things in those days!)
