X FACTOR finalists Austin Drage and Scott Bruton were pulled apart after brawling with each other in front of fellow contestants.

The pair, who are both in Simon Cowell’s 16 to 24-year-old males section, were involved in the fracas after trading insults.

Cowell, who is 49 today, has now intervened amid fears the pair’s rivalry could explode again.

A show insider said last night: “It is no secret that Austin and Scott have hated each other from the start.

“They’re both lovely guys, but when they’re in the same room there is an obvious clash of personalities.”

Grabbed

The pair squared up while working in a rehearsal studio in London with the other finalists.

The source added: “An argument started between them and in a flash they had grabbed hold of each other’s shirts and were pushing and shoving.

“It looked like they were about to throw punches but others were on hand to break them up.

“They then had to be held back from trying to hit each other.

“Although they’d had several verbal arguments before that, no-one had expected it to turn violent.”

It is not known if Cowell saw the incident, but he discussed it with producers and fellow judges Louis Walsh, 56, Cheryl Cole, 25, and Dannii Minogue, 36.

The insider added: “Simon may be the boss, but the other judges are desperate to win and won’t let his boys disrupt their preparations for the all-important live shows.

“It’s especially difficult, though, for Eoghan Quigg. He is only 16 and a long way from home and now he has to contend with these two older boys in his group exchanging killer looks with each other all day.

“You can cut the atmosphere with a knife and it’s detracting from the real reason they are here in the first place – the music.”

It is thought the rivalry of Essex boy Austin, 21, and Mancunian Scott, 19, stems from Austin’s friendship with Cheryl from his time supporting Girls Aloud with his old band 5boyz.

Some contestants were fuming at the revelation, claiming Austin had an advantage.

A spokesman for The X Factor said: “Austin and Scott might not be the best of friends but they’re sharing a room in the house and getting on well enough at the moment.”

Meanwhile, Cheryl invited her three girl finalists round for dinner at her pad, though husband Ashley, 27, was nowhere in sight.

Alexandra Burke, 20, Diana Vickers and Laura White, both 17, could not believe their luck.

A insider said: “They got all giggly like schoolkids as they thought Ashley might be there and they fancy him. But when they arrived Cheryl told them: ‘It’s girls only tonight’.”

Surely Austin would just burst out crying if someone gave him a killer look never mind grabbed hold of his shirt.

Only if there was a camera on him. You don't think he cries all the time do you?

It sounds like the usual Daily Star crap to me. And I doubt any of the girls fancy Ashley. It's rather a mystery in it's self that Cheryl does..

Bit pathetic though isn't it? They aren't little kids. They should have more self control and maturity than this.

(assuming any of this is remotely true, that is)

welcome to the daily star, where factual information is not required for good "news" stories. The paper is total bull s**t. Don't beleive a word of it.

Dont even compare an arguement to the stuff Rachel has done and is still doing.

Just out of curiosity was this thread started to genuinely discuss the falling out between Scott and Austin or was it started to try and take the heat off any bad press for Rachel and to stop people bad mouthing her on this forum and move onto Scott and Austin. ?

I sense it's for the latter as why else would Rachel be brought into the conversation.

Seems like there's an attempt by the OP to change this thread from being about Scott and Austin to being a positive thread about Rachel ....lol

Surely since, he/she created the thread, he/she can take the thread down whatever route he/she wants . . .

Damn her! for trying to turn her life around and being nice and motherly. Shall we burn her at the stake? I'll get the wood, if you get the straw . . .

Of course they can .. I don't recall saying that they couldn't, just making an observation

I'm not certain but I think there's a thread on Food and Drink that isn't about Rachel.

Imagine them appearing on stage in the live shows with black eyes from punching each other. Now that would be interesting!!!

actually no i wanted to make a point because alot of you are goin on about rachel being horrible to ruth (which i thinks bull) but anyway just makin a point that not every contestant is going to get on. there will be arguments. however in austin and scotts case they were allegedly close to a fight which is violence..rachel hasnt been through out her time at bootcamp but shes getting shit for answering back, but austin and scott are causing disruptions and its being brushed under the carpet - do you get my point?

whether you all think its true or not thats up to you but your quick to believe storys about rachel but not any other contestant.

If you believe this you will believe anything! Its all spin for the show. Its getting stupid now along with all the rubbish about the judges arguing and Sharon coming back.

I don't recall saying that I believe the story's about Rachel, so I presume that when you say "you're quick to belive storys about Rachel" you are meaning "you're" in general and not me personally.

Also thank you for confirming my suspicions that you are using this thread in order to talk about Rachel (again ) and point out positive things about her.

Just my opinion of course
