I'm loving it this year more than ever. In past years their has been more so BOY acts then WOMEN. And I usually like girls voices more and buy more singles/albums from women.

I know a lot of people like Guyz voices or maybe like their looks and this year their isn't too much of that.

It's the ladies year this year.

I have 3 contestants that I love.

1 contestant that I am beginning to love.

2 contestants that I don't mind.

Then everyone else are okayish.

It absolutely is a question of what you like.

I am VERY underwhelmed so far this year. There are no male voices that appeal to me, the groups are standard bland fare, the over 24's are nothing special and there are too many Winehouse/Duffy knock-offs.

There is only one contestant of interest to me this year and that's unusual - there are often two or three that I like.

Still, I had my fun last year so I'm happy to leave the rest of you to it...
I'm glad I read through this thread. You've saved me having to express an opinion as you've written exactly what I would have!

The only difference is I can't find anyone to have enough interest in to bother to watch this year.

I still enjoy the show but it does not excite me in the way it used to do. I think the best series was series two. It had the best talent of any series yet.

This year is better than last year but I dunno. I am just not feeling it. I think I am getting sick of the sob stories, the manipulation and the blatant publicity stunts.

Have they started to portray the young Irish lad as this year's Leon yet?? It's only a matter of time before that starts to happen

Its been going downhill since the introduction of Dannii, sadly.

I used to be utterly obsessed with The X Factor, this season I've missed a lot of it. I do like Cheryl, shes been a good addition to the show but I actually think we need Sharon back.

I think this year is brilliant.

I think there is so much talent this year. Usually in previous years you had two maybe three really talented people but imo there are seven brillant acts in the final twelve this year with:

Alexandra(awesome)
Rachel
Laura
Diana
Bad Lashes
Ruth
Austin(tbh he annoys me but he has a fantastic voice)

Also i've never ever in previous years wanted a contestant to win more than i do with Alexandra

Alexandra to win!!!
HI I don't thinke this years group are fantastic but there are a few of them that are reasonsable. Alexandra and Rachel being two of them.

I think Alex is great but she does seem a little desperate about it all. Same with Austin - although to a worse degree with him

I really want Laura to win at the moment but my mind could change...... SOmetimes, the ones who you'd expect to be not so good perform brilliantly and vice versa.

I agree that at the moment, no-one stands out for me, and I found bootcamp boring and the judges house section too drawn out, however I am looking forward to seeing how they all fair on the live shows.

I also think that overall, the talent is higher this year. Nearly every year, there is someone from each category so poor that you've no idea how they made it through and they perform badly on the live shows - but this year I think there is a high level of talent and they will give us a good show.

wait for the live shows, I'm sure your interest will revive !

I am totally fed up with the sob stories and this year in particularly, the drenched faces (Austin could set up his own water supply for the whole of the UK at the rate he's going!) and the greed in their voices when they demand "I want this. I want this now. I want this so much. I really, really want it!" I feel like saying "well you aint getting it so there!" I am unimpressed with pretty much all of the final twelve and I think they sent the wrong ones home. Simon should have kept Alan because he was seriously good looking; Cheryl should have kept Amy because through her, Faith Hill is now number 10 in the UK charts and I really think Amy hit a chord with the public. Wonder if the elimination shows were filmed before the single got back in on the strength of Amy's performance? Laura really gets on my nerves. I can't stand the nasal, fishwifey, squawky voices that seem to be au fait this year.

I find him the oddest looking human I have ever seen.

I know there have been threads like this and I'm sure the good old "if you don't like it, don't watch it" argument will be made, but I really am just very surprised at how unconcerned I am with X-Factor this year.

I feel like there is no spark of life left in it anymore. None of the contestants remotely excite me and I feel like it's been a very weak series, the weakest yet.

I've actually lost interest more or less completely and I used to love it. One reason I originally registered here was to talk X-Factor but I've hardly bothered because it has completely failed to grab my attention this time around.

Does anyone know why this series might seem so lukewarm to me? I don't think it's the lack of Sharon because I was never a fan of her, but I know I find Cheryl very bland and false. Although the sob stories have generally been tonned down, which is a good thing, we've still got people crying every week and the editing of this series is so slick it feels sterile.

I'm going to hang on because I never really enjoy the Boot Camp section of the show anyway, and I hope now that the Live Shows are here it might get better. But there's always been at least one contestant I've really cared about each series and this year I don't give a toss about any of them. None of them have much personality or that special something. I can't even rememebr most of their names off the top of my head and I have been watching.
i completely agree, i dont see a star in there

I think this year is already far better than last year.

Not one memorable contestant for me last year, bar Same Difference and Rhydian.

This year, I think quite a few are great; Diana, Laura, Alexandra, Bad Lashes, JLS, Rachel, Eoghan, Ruth & Austin.

I'd actually say this was my favourite series yet, and the live shows haven't even begun yet!

The format is just tired and the cynicism of the producers in the manipulation of contestants is now so obvious. Most of the current crop of reality shows are well past their sell-by date just like X Factor. We're awaiting the next new format to spark things to life and for everyone to copy...
The format is so fixed and manipulated that I am not supprised people loose interest.

We have had the you have not made it contestant where we have Simon saying I think I have made a mistake lets call him back.

We have the Contestent being booted out for breaking the rules one to come.

It's become increasingly clear how manipulated this program is. The manipulated it by the amountof air time the contestant get, some are constantly shown whilst others hardly get a look in

The manipulate it by the songs they are given to sing as well

The final 12 were probably choosen before the auditions began.

With manipulating air time & songs they can almost ensure who the winner is.

Totally disagree with you OP, this year's has got me hooked - so much better than last year's, so many potential stars and there's going to be some big ups and downs along the way, I cannot wait!!!

Back to the point. It's not a serious competition. It's a publicity campaign. I know a professor in Manchester who is covering the media influence and media manipulation upon the public that led to Leon winning because, well it's a great tool that can be used in not only business, buy media, politics - the list goes on. It's nothing new but it's an easy way to teach students how the production can manipulate viewers into picking a winner.
..
Why do you always have to bring Leon into these discussions?

I agree with the OP, actually. I think that X Factor 4 had stronger contestants than X Factor 5. I'm not really fussed with any of the current lot and I don't have a favourite. I won't be voting like I did last year.

I agree. But you will be slaughtered on here for slating Dannii as I was

Its a shame because there are good singers on there. But it will be that awful Austin who wins just watch

I think this year will be much better than last year as there are a lot of interesting people in the final 12, whereas last year I only liked one of the final 12.

Really looking forward to the live shows which I didn't think I would after the disappointment last year.

Last year I liked Rydian and I began to like Nikkie and same difference. I couldn't bloody stand any of the girls.

But this year I like a lot of them. I think it's one of the best years yet. And Cheryle is actualy not as bad as I thought. She actualy makes some good points. Unlike poor Dani, who says Bumb note, a lot.

I think it's a good line up this year. The show was bad last year... Apart from Rydian, spicing it up.

Maybe you're of sufficient intelligence and discernment to have realised that it's the same old, same old, every year.
Just watch something else.

Or why not go on an internet forum and insult all the people there - it's a sure fire way for people of sufficient intelligence and discernment to make lots of new friends and pass the time productively.

If the cap fits, wear it with pride and continue to revel in the X Factor experience.

My reason for still watching it is because I find it funny - especially the early rounds that appear to be full of deluded individuals with no descernable talent wailing and screeching with voices sounding like a cat being turned inside out. It may be the same old stuff every year but there is the occasional gem like Ant and Seb.

The bootcamp, like most of the show, is carefully edited of course. The contestents get more desperate and come out with utter tosh such as this is my dream, world, destiny, everthing, life will end if I do not get through etc and then proceed to blub & blub some more. All good fun

Is it just me or is there a greater emphasis on sob stories this series as well as more people crying? This year I believe there is someone whose wife died and another whose Mother died or something. Lets not forget the reformed junkie ex-jailbird with 3 kids in care who turned her life around. An especially good selling point for her. One of the young men, Austin I think, is particularly wussy and cries at the drop of a hat. As far a I know a close relative of his has not died or currently got a life threatening disease. The greater the sob story - the great chance of getting through?

What ever the reason people watch the X Factor for is entirely their affair and I would not question it. Whether or not any of the final 12 has actually got any talent does not really interest me. If anyone does enjoy the music it provides then great - what ever blows your hair back.

If you do like the X Factor then watch something else. No one is forced to watch it.
