a bargain?
did anyone manage to grab one of these at this price?
http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/stor...ory_oid=-34804 no stock anywhere now. I think it might just be a typo, cause it half the price they sell it everywhere else. |

I wonder how HD ready it really is. It doesn't even have a digital tuner.

Yeah an old design with no DTT tuner on a brand that is more well known for TV's in the US and if you know that the then price is fair, not a bargain by any means let alone at double the price elsewhere

The DSG group (Currys/Dixons) made quite a media splash earlier this year by announcing they would no longer sell analogue only televisions, I wasn't aware of a UK or EU regulation preventing said sales though.
Either way that TV is analogue so slipped through the net thanks to the HD Ready tag or simply incorrect spec? |

Well a digital tuner has nothing to do with HD - but I didn't think you were allowed to sell TV's without digital tuners any more?.
Chances are that most major retailers have some stock of non-digital sets which they will be looking to sell through in the near future. For some customers e.g. those with SKY / Cable or those who only want a TV for watching DVDs / Videos or using a games console, it probably isn't an issue either way. |

Not sure there's any legal prevention from selling non-Digital tvs ? They were in production until quite recently for some manufacturers.

Most likely not 1080p. But, that said, add a cheap DTR and you have a servicable "second" set for a bedroom!

These Polaroid TV's appear to only be badged OEM tv's.... if you're ever in Curry's, PC World or Comet you'll notice they look identical to other 19" Grundig's, Goodmans, Matsui and other badged models. The remotes also work other models (I've often seen several of these 'brands' next to each other on the display shelf and often at various prices.... only to seem to all be indentical .
Polaroid went bankrupt a few years back and dare say someone has just bought the rights to using it's name, not that it's a well known TV brand in Europe.... If you're happy with budget models then I guess it won't disapoint. |
