Tinned dog food - most brands contain only 4% meat...

I only became aware of this fact some weeks ago when looking at the ingredients of a new brand, and there was only 4% meat in the ingredient list.I was in a pet shop and uttered surprise to the owner who said yes, most contain only 4%,and the remaining 96% is mainly water,so I now make most of my own food for her with meat/fish,rice cooked in stock and frshly cooked vegetables plus some additives, and only ocaisionally buy some of the dog foods that are advertised as more natural,as they contain between 55%- 60% meat.

I imagine that tinned dog food must contain at least 4% meat by trading standards,so they just put the minimum - poor show I reckon..

I refuse to buy such rubbish with it`s fake meat pieces etc,it`s a rip off,and can`t be doing much good to the animals

My dog eats complete dried food and chicken.

I buy cheap chicken legs and cook them off as a batch and he gets one bowl a day. Costs about 50p a day.

My dog has never liked tinned food, a wise boy.

I buy the cheap value stuff I wouldn't eat myself and save other people the suffering.

He is lucky though, we live in the country and has a great life.
He loves his 1.5 mile walk down to the pub and has freedom to roam about the pub.
He's an Alsation and very few people are frightened of him.
