She sucks. Cannot believe she is judging people on X Factor.

She is very beautiful but i think thats as far as it goes. Whatever happened to real musicians, real talent, real skill with songwriting etc. And she made some money yes, done the Kit-Kat advert and went and married a footballer. Great. X-Factor? no It's a farce people, gone are the days you we're discovered and not manufactured. Where are the real singers/musicians.

Indeed. I could have thrown the telly out of the window when she sent Hannah home the other night. All 6 of those girls could wipe the floor with her vocally.

Whilst I have nothing against her, I doubt she would have been half as successful were it not for her looks.

I like her as shes the only one whos actually spending loads of time with her acts. Shes invited all three round her house for dinner. Speaks to them on the phone every day if she can't for some reason see them. You know Simon has not spoken to or seen his acts for a month. I think Cheryl is really taking her job seriously. While yes Hannah was amazing, I still think that Cheryl has chosen a respectable 3 which can't be said for the other judges. It was always going to be between Diana and Hannah.

Yes Cheryl isnt the most amazing singer. Everyone knows that but she can at least hold a tune and thats why she was voted into Girls Aloud. You never get a girl group with 5 Whitneys in it.

As a judge Cheryl has really surprised me and is doing just fine.

Girls Aloud are doing the rounds promoting their new single. Cheryl can't be spending too much time with her acts

who are you to say Louis and Danii arent.

You don't have to be a great individual singer to be in a group. You do need to blend. Girls Aloud do. She did improve a lot from there in the shows and since.

They went when the Monkeys became sucessful - its nothing new. Just more opne now than before.

As for the X-Factor. It's not about having an amazing voice. It's having that 'certain something' that makes (most) people like you. Cheryl went through an audition process like the contestants on X-factor and the public voted her into a band and then bought the band's singles. To me that means that she does have that certain something, the X-factor, just like her bandmates.

By your argument Simon and Louis aren't qualified to judge either because they can't sing. I'll let you have Danni becasue while I don't think she can sing particularly well I will conceed that its a matter of opinion and therefore subjective

Cheryl has said before that she knows she isn't the best singer and knows her limits.

I can remember her on Popstar the Rivals being quite weak actually... however I do think that she has improved quite a bit. Obviously she couldn't be a solo singer but in the context of a band she is fine.

I always thought that Cheryl got into Girls Aloud based on her looks rather than her voice. My next door neighbour's son multivoted for her because he thought she was fit and his sister voted for her because her because Cheryl's mum worked at her school ....... her singing ability was never mentioned ....lol

She phones them every day and actually has met them face to face alot. Done nice things like the dinner to. I know Danni has also been spending time with her acts. Don't know about Louis. I know Simon hasnt.

She was an awful singer. I think she's improved tremendously since then, and she's the one I'm always blown away by on tour. I've witnessed some very good vocals from her live. People always say Nadine's the best singer in Girls Aloud - and she is - but there's been times when I've heard a new song by Girls Aloud, thought a line was sung by Nadine only to discover it was actually Cheryl. She's no Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston, but I think she's a very good popstar and ideal member of a girl group.

I haven't heard much of her group but I did listen a song live and to me the girl Nadine has got the best voice out of them.
I also think she's got the best looks.

Louis put Cheryl in the final 10 on Popstars partly for her dancing ability. Emma Beard worried at the time she wouldn't get through as she and Cheryl had very much the same LOOK.

There is far more to putting a band together than having five great singers. Louis wanted Nadine all along (and I'd say Javine) later it was Nadine and Nicola - for lead vocals. But at the time, Nadine really couldn't dance. Ina band everyone brings their strengths and improves on other parts.

The success of Girls Aloud shows Louis did make good choices with his final 10 and the public voted Cheryl in first. Then Nicola, then Nadine, then KImberley and finally Sarah.

LOL not that I am a popstar geek

I recall Sarah having a really good voice on the live Popstars shows. Shame she is so underused vocally. Kimberley is weak, though.

She's no better or worse than any of the Spice Girls.

Pete Waterman's lusting over her really creeped me out though.

To be fair, Emma, Mel B and Mel C can actually sing. They might not be Whitney or Christina worthy but they can hold a tune. I'd even say Geri can as well. Geri was the main sound of their first album, Victoria however, backing singer but I'm a fan of Spice Girls so I'm biased.

But Cheryl isn't bad. I always wanted her in Girls Aloud when the show was on air. I wanted her, Sarah, Nicola, Javine (before we knew she was a bitch) and Nadine in the group. But Kim got in instead of Javine which was probably a small mercy considering.

She is not the only one spending time with her acts.
Dannii did this last year - she spent alot of time with her acts even Simon stated this - I can't see her doing anything different this year given how it paid off last year.

Yes which is why I like Dannii as a judge to. Cheryl is apparently spending an exceptional ammount of time with her acts though. I think if I was on the show id want either Dannii or Cheryl.

Perhaps Cheryl has more free time than the others to spend with her acts. We don't know what other commitments the other judges have.

I would imagine that Simon has a pretty busy diary so it would be no surprise to me that he probably doesn't spend the time with his acts that the others do. As far as I'm aware initial auditions for this year's American Idol took place during the summer so it could be that that he's having to get involved in the next stage now.

I've no idea what Louis does (other than plug Westlife at every opportunity..lol), but I presume that he will have other commitments apart from the x-factor.

Yes, Dannii is very busy with other commitments as is Simon and Louis.
But i'm sure they all are devoted to their groups.
I'm liking these 4 judges, it's nice that it's one for 20's one for 30's one for 40's and one for 50's

They also smile a lot more this year so I really cant wait for the live shows to start to see Dannii wave her arms defending her team, Louis acid comments, Simon's smug smile and what Cheryl will bring to the table.

i can't believe cheryl ever made the band, it was a big popstars the rivals shock when she took the last place!!! i know cos i was obsessed with the programme but saying that you havn't got to be the best singer in world to judge this show have you, i think cheryl is needed this year, for emotion and warmth.

Sarah Harding got the last place on the night against Javine....

Cheryl got the highest amount of votes to be in the band...

Followed by Nicola, Nadine, Kimberley and finally Sarah

They can't have been - after announcing Cheryl was in the band, her line was closed while the other five remained open. This happened for every girl until it was Sarah versus Javine and the lines were still open to pick which one made the band, even if it did all take place in under ten minutes.

In fairness the standard was much much lower as there weren't as many auditionees (something ridiculously small like 10,000).
