Matt Monro - one of the greatest singers ever:)

And British too.

One of his best tunes. Perfect for his voice. People should spread the word about Matt, our very own British style Frank Sinatra. Sadly no longer with us.

That's a big yes from me! What a beautiful voice.

Yes, a beautiful voice. It's interesting to compare his voice with modern male singers - none really sound much like him. He's from a different era - he sang easy listening songs, not modern pop. But it's fair to say modern male singers - those appearing on X Factor and other such shows - can't really compare to his voice. His voice was truly unique, a dreamy rich voice. If someone sounding like a modern Matt Monro appeared on the X Factor I think Simon Cowell would have a heart attack! LOL He wouldn't believe his luck!

Love Matt Monro.

I agree, better than Sinatra imo. In fact, imo better than Bennett or Nat King Cole (and they were wonderful singers).

I agree. I have a dvd of footage when Matt Munro was singing in Australia. What a voice and carisma to go with it!!

He's one of my favourites too.
I was listening to him only yesterday.
On one of the YouTube tracks someone said (forgotten who) that he was not afraid to hit the high notes and hold them.
Very true.

Edit: Matt Monro documentary -

Gorgeous rich voice that I always associate with 'Born Free'. Brings back loads of memories.

In terms of comparison with modern male singers and more specifically with the X Factor, I actually think that Leon has an incredibly unique voice - very rich and smooth tone. Perhaps not so evident with his first single, 'Don't Call This Love' but certainly in some of the clips from his album.
