What do you eat in an average day ?
Im wondering if im eating too much, and would be very interested to know how much others eat. It would be handy too to know if you are male / female along with height.
Basically I started a thread in advice as im putting on weight - rapidly. But i dont think i eat too much. Yeah I have an occasional piece of choccie, and an occasional biccie - but im not constantly raiding the biscuit tin. I will start with yesterday, and i will be VERY honest. I am 5ft 6inches ... and female. Nothing for breakfast A 'fish platter' roll which contained crab sticks and prawns mainly in a granary roll. Bag of cheese and onion crisps Lasagne for tea with a small serving of baked beans 4 chocolates from a box of Milk tray So - what do you eat. Maybe everyone should do the day before, and list everything. |

Eat some breakfast, lose the crisps and chocolate and have some salad with the lasagne instead of the beans. Drink plenty of water, get yourself some body exfoliating scrub and brush and use that in the shower once a day, go for a walk for between 30 and 60 minutes and I guarantee you'll lose some weight.
![]() I only had the choccie as i was bought a box of chocolates on sunday - and well, you have to eat them dont you ![]() The crisps are a weakness though. I normally have one bag a day. |

Female, 28, 5ft 1in, 8st 4lbs
I try as best as possible to follow a low GI plan (IE I eat very small amounts of sweet things and have wholemeal carbs) BUT I haven't been so great at it lately!! I did however lose almost 3 stone on it a few years back and have been at my current weight ever since. Breakfast: Wholemeal toast with low fat butter Lunch (one of following): Soup with toasted cheese wholmeal sarnie / brown pasta salad / 2 slices of wholemeal toast and spaghetti hoops / chicken and coleslaw sarnie with brown bread I will sometimes have a bag of Quavers if I am having a sarnie Afternoon Snack: Yoghurt or Philly on crackers Dinner: I have a normal dinner but with smaller portions and as I say I use brown rice or pasta instead of white and I have new potatoes or jackets as opposed to chips or baked spuds. So I have things like spag bol with salad / sweet & sour chicken with brown rice / chicken stir fry / chilli on jacket spud or with brown rice / marinanded chicken breast with new potatoes. I always try to serve dinner with a salad or some veg on the side too. I don't deny myself anything (esp carbs!) but I do try to have the more healthy option of carb? I did read your other thread and others have said its best to go to thr DR's and let them check you out Porky ![]() Whoops - I didn't see 'the day before' part of the OP, mine wouldn't count anyway as I have a really bad gum infection so haven't been eating much at all....... So I've given you an average day!! |

I thought i would see if i was just eating badly - hence the weight gain and the fact im getting older. Or whether it could be something else. I dont want to waste anyones time.

A typical day for me is (based upon yesterday):
Breakfast A Banana Lunch Toast and a cup of tea Dinner Home made egg fried rice A bit later An apple, a kiwi and a clementine (normally 3 pieces of fruit after dinner along those lines) And that's it - I rarely eat anything else in between, and am well aware that I don't eat enough in terms of calories. Banana is good if you wish to eat some fruit but are worried it will leave you hungry. Funnily enough, eating most fruits makes me hungry. Oh yeah, fruit juice too. Pamela, you forget it also counts on your birthday

Breakfast - I have 2 x shredded wheat with a banana on top with skimmed milk
Mid-morning - Satsuma Lunch - Couscous Salad of some description Afternoon - Apple Dinner - Usually stir fry/ chilli / spag bol followed by a yoghurt. And also a bar of chocolate too. Plus I do at least an hour's exercise every day. I also use one of those online calorie counters so I can see exactly how much I am eating. I often have a blow out day on a Sunday where i stuff myself silly... I can then even it out throughout the week by not eating so many calories |

I'm not sure that I am terribly representative as I am 4.5 months pregnant so am putting on weight very rapidly indeed, but here is you go. (By the way, I am a 30-year-old woman.)
Breakfast - bowl of Cheerios with wheatgerm and semi-skimmed milk. Lunch - bowl of homemade pasta e fagioli soup, bread roll, apple, single serving panna cotta Snack - two tortillas with low fat crème fraîche (can I claim a pregnancy craving for that one? )Dinner - homemade chilli with curly kale and basmati rice. My diet could probably do with more fruit and veg and less dairy, but the milk in the morning really helped with my morning sickness, so I figure my body probably needs it at the moment. Before I got pregnant I was more likely to have a boiled egg and a slice of toast for breakfast and nothing sweet after lunch. Otherwise, not much has changed, to be honest. |

Male, 25, 6"2, probably about thirteen stone, although I haven't weighed myself since about April.
Breakfast: Two slices of white toast, tea with semi-skimmed milk and two sweeteners. Lunch: Turkey salad sandwich, packet of crisps, orange, banana, apple. Dinner: Prawn, pepper and pea risotto. After dinner junk: 5 cookies, 3 slices of lemon cake, bowl of Frosted Wheats. Could probably be a lot healthier if I cut out the after dinner junk (duh), but I run for about 45 minutes every day after work, and walk to and from work as well. |
