We have just been to court to-day to witness the despicable monster who threw a neighbours cat in a canal being sentenced. We all thought the outcome would be community service, but were delighted that he was sentenced to 4months in prison, what a wonderful outcome for a person to have thought he would never have been caught.I have posted previously when he was allowed to go on holiday to Tennerife and kind people helped me to copy the stories to this forum.Watch newspapers tomorrow.

Got you a link here abbie 1953 .

Thanks for the update, it's good to hear that he went to prison at least - although I would've preferred a harsher sentence .

Why would someone do that to a cat? ???

It's good he's being sentanced!

Good result, but still not a harsh enough sentence IMO.

the outcome was better than we ever thought.

In the clip on BBC News, it is not true the neighbour had only bought the cat,the cat had been a much loved pet for 2 years.

Good result. What an evil... hehe, I wont say it on here.

Argh! They say murderers who murder people start off killing animals. Killing a pet is like killing a family member, he should have got at least a year or three..

4 Months? It should have been 4 years at least.

There is unlikely to be much truth to that though.

"They say" is often just a load of BS.

Well let's hope he has an unpleasant experience in the showers then.

He should not have killed the cat.

Why did he admit it to the police ????????

If he'd said nothing he probably would be free today.

I don't know anything about cats.

Was there no way for the owner to keep the cat away from the neighbours house and going into the house ?

How about after detailed research the FBI say it is true - http://www.helpinganimals.com/ga_humanAbuse.asp

Well done Abbie
So many cases like this must go on unsolved. I don't care what the problem is. Animal Welfare is out there ready to help if needed. No excuse these days for this sort of behavior.

Animals die up and down the country day after day. No big deal, its part of life.

That's truly awful. Can't understand why anybody would do this! If his wife had a phobia of cats, just getting rid of that one wouldn't help! There are cats all over the place.

No.

He should have been punished, and indeed he was (in my view too harshly). There is an element of (probably childless housebounds) posters who are reacting as if it was a child and not a cat

So by your logic murderers should be let off?

After all, humans die up and down the country day after day. "No big deal, it's a part of life."

I'm not childless, I'm not even a cat lover, and I actually find your comments here disgraceful.

How would you feel if it were a sheep?

This animal was somebody's pet and was killed - it didn't just 'die', as if it happened naturally.

I'm sure you wouldn't be too happy if someone nicked your TV or your computer and smashed it up. I have no doubt that to have a pet viciously killed is far worse. It wasn't just their property but a living creature that they loved and cared for.

Glad to hear this update Abbie and would just like to echo MAW's sentiments.
