Have uploaded the files for the update.....obviously you will use them at your own risk but it worked OK for me....read and adhere the instructions though !!!
Burn the .frm to CD

http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=c...21d66e282a0ee8

This worked perfectly on my es20d.
Thanks for uploading it David, the guide is back to normal now.

Just found this thread after giving up on Panasonic doing another over the air update. My DMR-ES20DEB was switched off during the over air updates before as I wasn't using it. After the DVB rescans required today 30/09/2009 the stations were even more all over the place so I was very pleased to find the firmware update via CD published here. It worked a treat. Many thanks David.

Hi all

Is there a similar share for the file to update the DMR E60DEB? Or any other advice on how to get the bloody thing working after the update?

Hi all and thanks to JBlink,
Yes, my recorder would only pick up analogue stations after
yesterdays manual auto tune. I tried shipping condition retune, Digital retune ect, all failed. Then I read your thread, mains power off, fresh auto tune, all back to normall.

I just called Panasonic customer care on 01344 862 444 (geographic equivalent for the 0870 535 7357 published on the Freeview list) and they simply asked for my model number (DMR-EH60D) and name/address and are posting me an update DVD. They said just follow the instructions which will come with it, then bin it afterwards.

I didn't dare do the retune even before I'd found out about possible issues - with the DMR and a Pace Twin the last thing I'd want is for them to fall over. If they couldn't be compatible, I'd gladly put up with no Channel 5 or ITVs 3 & 4, and a few channels mis-numbered.

Anyway, hopefully my disc will arrive by the weekend, and good on Panasonic for being ready with this and helpful. Just a shame that Freeview's insistent message didn't warn that some people would have problems.

Do we know whether the DVD they're offering to send out (as advertised on that BBC list) is new software or just a copy of the most recent OAD for those that didn't get it? I haven't actually tried a retune of the Panny yet, but it did get the previous OAD and I'm not expecting any problems other than the possible need to power-cycle after the first scan as mentioned above.

Is the DVD update simply to deal with the split-NIT issue?

That is my current understanding.

But it may be that the split NIT causes this effect. I've had no confirmation from users either way.

However, my machine has not suffered any split NIT issues but does suffer from this 'inability to save digital channels until Power reset'.

Perhaps someone who has installed this update could reveal the software version?

Well, I managed to scan for the re-jigged channels before I upgraded the firmware (after having to do a power cycle - I didn't experience any split NIT issues), but I received the DVD from Panasonic this morning.

I have a DMR-ES20D.

Firmware version before DVD: 1.14
Firmware version afer DVD: 8.13

Not entirely sure why the numbers are so different. It seems to work ok.

More problems.....having been working perfectly since my last posts regarding updates I went to record something today (don't use it THAT often) and found no digital channels at all .....re-loaded the update CDROM, re-scanned and..........nothing apart from 4 lousy analogue channels !

Any ideas please

Happy New Year David,
Presumably the old trick of scanning with the aerial disconnected then re-attempting with it restored doesn't help?

...or the usual [ for this model] power reset? Try this first!

I'm assuming here that this is an EH60D [ or ES20].

In the succeeding generation on machines [EX75 etc] there is an infamous capacitor that causes this problem, C1533: 680µF 5V.

So far I have not heard of it failing in the EH60D... I'm not even certain it is present in this model , but it is likely to be, and may be less vulnerable than in the '75 where it is near to a hot running component.

mine is the DMR-ES20D

I looked at all the capacitors and they seem fine, did a power off reset (for 10 mins) factory reset and re-scan and it is now fine.......but for how long ???

Very strange behaviour

My ES20D is working fine EXCEPT I always have to scan once, cycle power at the plug and then scan again to get back all the digital channels. They don't go anywhere till the next re-scan though.

Less good is the noise it's started making now, when loading/recording onto a DVD-R - a low, growly buzz. Presumably a motor is wearing somewhere.

hey, you aren't supposed to USE IT that much...

seriously though here's a possible solution I found on my brother in laws machine.....he complained of a clicking / buzzing noise all the time a disc was spinning and I eventually tracked it down to a small fragment of sticky paper that he'd used to label a disc with.....it had become stuck to the top of the drive and was rubbing on the disc !
Failing that could it be the fan at the back ?

Keep us posted

Are you sure it is not the slipping disc syndrome which overcomes all these machines after a time?

Cleaning the rubber grip ring on the disc platform is the remedy.
There are threads about this elsewhere.

I contacted Panasonic customer service and they are going to send me a firmware update disk that "will cure the problems I am experiencing" (!!)
I told them that they already sent me a disk back in March 09 (firmware version 8.13) but they are still sending me another one.....I can't help wondering if it will be the same ???...and, more to the point, IF it will cure the problem.....I will of course keep you posted.

Thanks.. and Good luck.

Certainly, I'm not aware of any further updates since the one you already have.

Hey all. I bought a DMR-ES20D from eBay and I'm pretty happy with it. It's running DVB version 1.14 currently however. Should I look to upgrade? What are the benefits? Has anybody got an image of the Panasonic upgrade DVD they could upload/torrent?

It is important not to regard these as upgrades.

They are updates only, that apply only to the reception software and which should only be applied if suffering from specific known problems.

1.14 is fine.

Well, after I don't know how many phone calls and emails I finally received the disk today....they claim to have sent out no less than 5 disks but I only received one....mmmmm.....

Unfortunately loading it has not cured the problem as again I have zero digital channels.
Am now going to try the power off reset and start again....

Hi davidwfaulkner,

If you remember, my ES20D wasn't cured by the version8.13 either. I have just persevered with the power off cycle trick. At least yours was fixed for a while.

Yep, sure enough after a power off (for a while) recycle it found all the digital channels again.
The "new" disc appears to be the same build - 8.13 - but it took quite a while to load, possibly inducating some updates ?

I will take it up with Panny again next week......
