Getting a Samsung to work with Nokia PC suite

Ok, so it's a bit of a long story this one, but basically I have Nokia PC suite installed on my work PC, but they won't let me install Samsung PC Studio.

Now we all know they're esentially the same bit of software, and that both the N95 (which I was using with PC Suite) and the Samsung I8510 both run on the same OS.

So - does anyone know how I could get my Samsung to work on PC Suite ? On paper, it sounds like it should be quite easy, but I bet it's not !

I have both on my pc, no install issues at all.

Only thing I do it start up which ever one I am going to use. The Samsung one is usually already started and I just stop it if I want to install to my Nokia.

Does that mean your Samsung will sync via Nokia PC Suite (and / or your Nokia via Samsung PC Studio) ?

That's what I'm hoping to achieve you see.

No they seem to have some checking included to stop that. I have had to use the specific suite for each phone (although it does appear to be the same Nokia PC software with different icons).

what is it you want to use the pc suite for. there may be another way....

Ah that's a shame.. I thought there might be some sort of checking in place, though.

Frustrating cos, as you say, they're basically the same program !

Hi Flagpole,

I'm hoping to Sync my calendar and contacts from my work PC to my I8510.

Problem is that the work IT boffins have let me install Nokia PC Suite but won't let me install Samsung PC Studio.

ah the one thing you do need the suite for....

my phone allows me to export the contacts to the memory card in .vcf format, the same as outlook etc use.

only workaround i can see would be to sync the calendar with another computer then sync that.

Yeah that's sort of what I'm doing - exporting calendar at work to my home PC and syncing that with the Samsung.
