Recording from LP to CD

Does anyone know how I can record a number of my old records (which are currently not available on CD) onto my PC so that I can then burn the tracks onto CD?

I presume this is possible.......somehow, but I haven't got a clue what wires, software etc I would need to do this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I have used 'Clean' - Steinberg software.

It comes with a pre-amp so you can connect your turntable output to your sound card input without need for an normal amplifier

It will then record for you and even remove scratches/dust noise from the recording.

I just used an old, all in one hifi system and linked the headphone output on the hifi to the line in on the sound card. I then used a little program that came with the sound card to record it, saved it, then copied it across to the Windows Media Player. This method didn't get rid of any noises from the original record though, ie hissing, etc.

Think NERO 6 can help you too - has specific features to assist and info in the userguide about how to connect stuff together!
