Would Simon be the only one confident enough to evict his own acts
He did it with somone before, I get the feeling he will get the chance again this year.
He thinks quite correctly with his wallet so would have no problem evicting say eoghan over say Laura |

Definately. At the end of the day he wants the best act to win and if he has to get rid of one of his own of course he would.
I think Austin is the only potential winner he has. |

He's the only one that has to worry about the winner, because he gets stuck with them. He did it with the Conway Sisters the week that they started picking their own songs.
He needn't worry too much, because other judges would ensure that there was no shock (for fear of being fired!), but he'd probably just do the sensible thing. He wants one of the girls or the groups to win this year. |

In answer to the question; Dannii/ Cheryl wouldn't axe their own act. Louis might do IF they were in the bottom two week after week like the Conways. |

I think Louis might if it really came down to it. We saw this the week it was Eton Road/Robert bottom 2 and he cried because he didn't want to get rid of Robert.

I think Austin is the only potential winner he has. Thing is, I cannot see people warming to Austin as aperson what with all the croc tears. Simon is sure as hell gonna have to work hard to get one of his acts to win this year - when I say work hard I mean manipulate the hell out of Joe Public.

They are ALL simon's acts, it doesn't really matter which judge mentors them - its just for the TV cameras. They are all mentored by the same people in fact.

![]() Whichever way you look at it, he's the real winner. With Cole, Minogue, Walsh runners up with their meaty paychecks. |

Good question OP. I hope Simon will eliminate one of his acts if they were not up to scratch on the night.

They aren't really mentored by the judges anyway. Wasn't it last year that Daniel was told a few days before the live show by a PRODUCER that he'd be singing a different song? The whole mentoring thing is just a way of conjuring fake tension, and the ability to keep a lineup on each show catering to all audiences.

Simon would only evict his own act if he absolutly had to. He wants to win just as much as the other judges, sometimes at the expense of the show- he did choose conway sisters over maria, and hope over beverly; both times eliminating a far superior act so that he could keep his act in.
he only eliminated conways when it was shockingly clear they were despised and would not win. |

I doubt it.
His ego was crushed badly when Dannii won last year and he keeps saying that he will not take another win from her so I think he'll work his ass off to get to the top. |

If Simon wanted to win, he would have taken the boys last year and the girls this year. But he knows that it needs to be shared out and so he has had pretty poor categories the past 2 years.

I'm sure about that. He could have won with SD last year and as stated many times, the boys were not considered a strong category in the beginning cos many were disappointed in Dannii's choices. |

He manages whoever wins anyway so why would he care who won? Whoever wins is gonna make him the money. I'm pretty sure he'd want another act to win over one of his if the other would make more money. Sure he has an ego but he has a brain too. |

He said it, I didn't but it doesn't take long to see that he loves to compete and to win. |

But he (and the other producers) know that it would be absurd if that kept happening. And so he gives himself weaker categories. If he always wanted to win the judges competition, he would give himself the best categories. He doesn't. Offer Simon the chance to win with Scott or Cheryl winning with Laura/Alex or even Diana and he'll give Cheryl the win every time. |

For whatever reason you would have, I stil ldon't think so. Especially after what he says here about Dannii winning http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=TEGAskzFU2I (around 6,40 in the video) He also said in an American interview a month ago that he can bare to lose, in anything. |

So this topic was about him letting Cheryl Cole have the win?
I'm 100% sure he is not going to 'give' away a win. For whatever reason you would have, I stil ldon't think so. With regard to the clip, Simon is playing his role. If he said "having discussed the issue with the senior production team, I'd actually rather not win this year for the sake of the show" it wouldn't make for good TV. If Simon is so determined to win, then why does he give himself weaker categories? Why doesn't he make one category outstanding with 3 incredible singers/groups and then give the other judges dreadful singers/groups. The answer, of course, is that he must make the show his number one priority. He hasn't seen his category since Barbados, but you can bet he has done plenty of work on the actual show. |

All this "Simon ALWAYS wants to win" and "He is competitive and won't just let anyone else win" stuff is hilarious.
Simon ALWAYS WINS. It's his show. It's his record label. It's his JUDGE(Dannii or Cheryl) that he selected and made a big deal about. So yes, I can totally see him letting other people "win". Just so long as it suits him. And belive me, Cheryl winning after everything he's said about her being the best judge ever, suits him. It makes him look like a bloody casting genius if Cheryl wins this year. Just like last year with Dannii. It couldn't be more obvious could it? She's got the best group full stop. That doesn't ensure her victory, but it makes it a lot easier. |
