Been doing a lot of stat crunching (I have no life) and I thought it might be of interest to people to see some stats on the dances coming up tomorrow. If people like the idea, I'll happily do it before every show.

The scores are only for the regular series and do not include Christmas or Sports Relief Specials. For the sake of my typing fingers I've only listed the celebs.

The number with the hyphen is the series and week. For example 4-2 is series four week two. F stands for final.

Finally, these are my own stats so if you see any errors please let me know.

Quickstep

Number of times danced : 39

Average Score : 29.44

Dancers closest to average

Julian Clary 2-F

It interests me! So the rumba has only been chosen for the final once, and never for a female contestant? I'm only saying that on the basis that the final scores are usually amongst the highest. Can't say I'm complaining; I'd count it as my least favourite dance.

Great thread, but OH MY GOD, I can't believe Bunton's is the highest scoring female Rumba! Kelly's was far superior!

Hi QM,

I'm so bad at these things that I'm scared of questioning the stats but ...

Are you sure about Emma Bunton's rumba? I thought that she was series 4! Didn't she compete against Louisa rather than Alesha and Kelly?

Fantastic thread, I'd love to see the stats before each show if you do have time

I wonder if Emma just managed to be the top female Rumba because she did hers later in her series than the others in that list- I'm pretty sure she did Quickstep in week two?

I also thought she did hers later in the series but I'm sure that the Stat King will be back soon to confirm one way or another.

I thought Emma was overmarked and definitely prefer K&B's rumba but I often disagree with the judges.

The info about Emma is not correct. She wasn't in series 5, so that makes me doubt, how accurate the Rumba details are, also although it was week 2 of Strictly, it was Kelly's first dance as the boy & girl celebs were split, for the first 2 weeks

Being a bit geek-like about my numbers I'm pretty sure the others are correct

As I recall Emma performed her Rumba in series four, week ten.

I can't compare to QM I'm afraid! I think I just loved series four so much that I can remember huge chunks of it in a slightly worrying way...

Emma did indeed do the Quickstep in week two of series four (I know ). She scored 33 which is the 15th best score at the QS. However as the QS was traditionally danced first in week two, Emma has the second best week two QS. Colin Jackson got 36 in 3-2.

Cherie just went to the top of the girls leader board but Tess forgot Colin when she said it was the highest score.

Emma Bunton 36 4-6
Alesha Dixon 36 5-9

Note : Ten of the top twelve samba dances have been performed by female celebs!

In case you're wondering, Erin has danced the samba with Colin Jackson, Julian Clary (twice), Martin Offiah and Peter Schmeichel.

In conclusion, the lowest score this week should be a samba danced by a bloke and the highest should be a smooth danced by a man or a samba danced by a woman.

As always, let me know if you spot any errors/typos

What I found most interesting about these stats is that the scores in previous series are much higher than I expected relative to last year.

Correction

Matt Di Angelo scored 36 in both of his Smooths and not 34 (bad copy and paste). This does not affect any of the averages.
