I have to agree. I'm liking how the recent stories have linked many characters together, Rosie's dissapearance and the lottery story for example

From the last 3 weeks I'd say its been on form and looks as if it will continue. I'm always looking forward to each episode like I did back in 2007 - Charlie Stubbs/Tracey stuff.

Hollyoaks is the best soap at the moment, but Corrie definitely takes second place, followed by EE. Emmerdale would probably be better than EE at the mo with the Jo and Andy storyline if it wasn't for the unfunny comedy scenes with the old dears and silly storylines.

Corrie's definitely the best at the moment- the pace and quality ahs definitely picked up over the last month, so good on the team there!
Overall this year so far, however, I think EastEnders has been better- the first 6 months were very good but it's lost its way a little bit since the summer I think personally. |

EE has got a little tedious atm imo & has lost its way a bit with nothing really interesting me. Though there looks like there is some excellent material coming up. |

Corrie has improved a lot, mainly in the last month or two. I've started watching it more frequently and although some scenes really still scream of the crap we were watching for most of the year, the rest is great viewing. I hope it can continue after the Liam story ends.
EastEnders hit a weak patch all summer, one of the worst summers in a few years with only a few big weeks that were good but I now think it's bounced back to being better than Corrie. This week both have been on par with each other |

Corrie is on fine form at the moment. I actually find myself looking forward to the next episode as soon as the current episode ends (something i haven't done for a while).
The storylines have come togther very, very well and i'm really looking forward to next weeks episodes now. Corrie is back, and it about time!

I'm still enjoying it though, but I think Corrie is racing ahead currently - having said that it does have the benefit of a dramatic climax to a storyline next week so everything has been ramped up. |

Yes Coronation St has improved but this is only down to liams murder and rosies disaperance even though im enjoying it a lot more its puting all the egs in 1 basket. EastEnders is on par with it even if a litle beter with things realy hoting up with whitney nd tony and max and jack gun plot also archie peggy nd roxy baby and nick janine and jim returning! Fab stuff coming up EE contiunes to be the best soap by far,!

its been great not having to watch rosie. annoyed that maria is always around but hey thats just personal taste i suppose. it has been good lately better than ee at the mo imo. a few different storylines helps rather than focusing every storyline on one family.

It is ok at the mo. Tony is great. But the problem is the other characters. I stopped watching it about six months ago. But tunned in recently.
I mean before it was just watching people eating chips and chatting while they made knickers. They need a serious look at the show. I mean even Emmerdale is better, at least it's a good laugh. They need a new family. I think a mum with eight out of control kids would be good. No more Sophie or Rosie webster. Sally and Kevin should piss off. I liked Tracy and Charlie. Tracy was a brilliant character. Tracy needs to come back, to save the show. |

The thing is Coronation Street is reaching a climax to a storyline - namely Liam's murder. The same thing happened in EastEnders before Max's burial - the pace of the programme seemed to develop, as did the quality.
Once the burial had taken place, EE seemed to lose the plot with the 'dig him up' part of the storyline - this happens. When one storyline takes central stage, when it comes to a head, the directors seem to spin out the after affects for as long as possible. Look at the outcome of Den's murder (killed in February, Chrissie brought to justice in August IIRC) in EastEnders; Carl being revealed as Tom's murderer seemingly a decade after the event in Emmerdale or the development of David as a wild child in Coronation Street since Hillman as examples. The trick with Coronation Street is not to muck up the aftershock of the main event. After a high point comes a dip. In fairness, bar a couple of dodgy moments, EastEnders have come through it quite well. If Coronation Street wants the same result, they'll have to get the aftershock exactly right. |

It's better than it was but I'm still not a fan of the Connors particularly that wig stand Michelle.

About two years ago now I felt that watching both major soaps was taking up too much of my time and one needed to go so I stopped watching Eastenders. I continued with Corrie however I've found that for a lot of this year I've not really been enjoying it as much (particularly the swapped at birth story), if I missed it I didn't worry and I never bothered to Sky+ it if I was out.
But for the last few weeks all has changed. It has become unmissable again and I'm really enjoying it. I love the stories, the acting, the writing. The relationships between people are really interesting now and I am starting to care what happens to many of the characters. I hope they can keep up this momentum as I'm really enjoying it. |
