I have had this 28" sdtv for a while now (Bush WS6680SIL) and for some reason, every time i turn it on I have to manually change to widescreen option using the tv remote as some sky channels dont broadcast in widescreen automatically. Once I change it, it stays there until I turn the TV off.

Any idea how to fix it? And how to save and store tv settings, as they also seem to default back when I turn the tv off. Thanks.

is the sky box set to 16.9 and a fully pinned scart with RGB on?

might be telly set to 16.9 rather than auto

Oooh, I managed to get into the service menu, but all of the different options on screen are so confusing, anyone know what they all mean?

Probably 'don't mess with me unless you understand EXACTLY what I am and what I do'......

Somebody here (probably Nigel) will know; meanwhile leave well alone.

LOL yeah true. At least I can get into the service menu settings, I just need to make the tv stick to 16:9 setting all the time.

I think it is a clone - I read theres a samsung WS6680SIL aswell lol

the scart is fully pinned. the tv auto goes to 16:9 on bbc1 and itv and stuff, but channels that dont broadcast in 16:9 I get a box on screen so i have to change settings and press the 16:9 button on tv. it stays 16:9 until i turn tv off.

I have my sky box on 16.9 all the time and you get used to it

there is a pin which detects 16.9 so thats wwhy I was asking about fully pinned scart

can you choose 16.9 instead of auto anywhere in the set up ? for telly

it may be in advanced set up or AV set up

Some sets can be a little crazy... I have a Hitachi Panel here that I wound up putting into 'hotel mode' to get it to start on a video input rather than the (redundant) tuner.... Fully switched SCART and all!

And yet there are whole units on product design courses dedicated to usability engineering!

Pin 8; but not all sets use it and many leads (even supposedly 'fully wired' ones) don't implement it....

i saw hotel mode on the service settings.

the scart is fine, you manually press the 16:9 button. if you choose store in the settings, it says its stored, then tv is turned off you have to press the 16:9 button again when you hit a channel that doesnt broadcast in 16:9 - it stays til you turn tv off.

Hotel mode is generally just a way of restricting volume levels, locking out menus and/or forcing the set onto certain inputs...

Has it always done this or is it just recent?

Me, I'm a TV service engineer - but unfortunately we don't do Bush - who are just a badge used on cheap sets. Often they are made by Vestel in Turkey.

I would advise you not to mess with the service menu, as it's often possible to completely kill the TV.

As others have suggested, this 'problem' may just be the way the set is designed to be?.
