It's discovered that one of the acts has previously had a record contract, unless it's already happened

According to 'We Love Telly' magazine, JLS "are already experienced recording artists".

Does this change your perceptions of any contestants if you know of this type of background?

Laura White AKA Laura Fitzgerald was - according to the Mirror - signed to a 5 year contract with Matt Aitken in 2002 but that was subsequently terminated in 2006 after she'd recorded a couple of singles.

She still appears on the website of Shout Promotions Ltd. although there is a proviso that she isn't available for bookings during the Xfactor.

Her previous website laurajawhite has also been taken down since the start of the programme.

LOL, is the the Matt Aitken from Stock Aitken Waterman.

Pete Waterman was a judge and pop idol and he produced SD's album, and he is a friend of Simon.
And, if I remember well from Simon's autobiography, Simon worked as A&R for the trio.

LOL, small world indeed...

The "experienced recording artists" does change my perception on contestants. I can understand singers/groups entering talent contests and perhaps recording a demo, but the 'experienced recording artists' is pushing it a bit I think.

However, can you really imagine if the final 12 contestant had literally 'stepped in from the streets'? We would be guaranteed more than a train-wreck! The programme would probably be taken off air or billed as comedy instead.
