Watch out for these guys. bought an LG60PF95 60" plasma from them in December last year. basically it has failed under warantee and LG have instructed them to replace it .........They point blank refuse and are both rude and aggressive.want to try to fix it themselves.... LG have advised me to report them to Trading Standards who apparantly are aware that this is a rogue trader thanks LG..for dealing with them... Trading standards have a list of complaints re this company and refered me to the sale of goods act re: a full refund. Thank god I used my Barclaycard for this who are charging back the full amount...could do without it but avoid them.

Sorry to hear about your woe's, Alot of people think claiming your money back from Mastercard is a matter of a few phone calls, you will know yourself that the process is just a tad more complex!

Should do. I work for a credit card company and deal with irrate consumers every day. patience is the key as once the dispute is raised the retailer has 30 days to respond most times if they are in the wrong they don't and they lose the case by default automatically. Fortuanately in my case the TV is still watchable as it just has a single line of dead pixels from top to 3/4 of the way down and I have a letter from LG instructing him to replace it so he does not have a leg to stand on ...I would highly recomend now though that on purchases of this value around £2500 you take out an extended warantee ,not necessarely from the retailer google it and you can get a good deal (around £370-380 for an extra 5 years). This TV was bought in December had it failed after a year I would have lost the lot. No spare parts! Can you believe it

You don't need an extended warranty, look at the Consumer Direct website.

If an item fails after 12 months the 'Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended)' can help.

I do not know mate but when I get my new tele on this occasion I am taking out the extended warantee. Let's put it this way If LG cannot force the shop to honour the 12 month guarantee and trading standard have no real power what chance would any of us have after 12 months ?

So basically you're saying that LG can't supply the required part for the set (presumably PDP?), so why don't THEY just supply you with a brand new replacement?.

I've never heard of that company, so can't comment on them specifically, but LG not been able to repair a set under warranty is really LG's fault - not the retailers. From the retailers point of view, if they refund you the money, what do they then do with the set? - have LG given them written confirmation that they will take the set back and refund them the money.

Bear in mind even assuming LG refund them the trade price the retailer is well out of pocket, through no fault of their own, not a good place to be.

But, as always, all your rights are against the retailer - and the whole sorry story is really down to service been done by third party agents (not even LG, just an appointed agent), leaving the retailer no where to go and havinjg no control over the situation.

LG have told him to replace the set with the same or equivelent model. He is still trading and sells LG plasmas.
LG only make them and the sale of goods act is between me and the shop. The law say's he has to replace the TV and give me another he has got my£2578 and has basically told me to F*ck off

I don't see how the retailer would be out of pocket at all? he made his profit on the original set & if LG credit him with the full trade price how can he loose? I have been in retail for years (Not AV) but thats the way it normally works & it does not hurt me & keeps a happy customer

He made profit originally, but then he's giving that profit back to the customer - assuming LG eventually credit him the trade price, he's made absolutely nothing on the deal, but will have expended a great deal of time and effort.

Returning an item to a manufacturer isn't a trivial exercise, it can take many hours of work, take many weeks (or months) to arrange, and take many months before you eventually get the credit.

But this is really beside the point, the dealer is responsible for the sale, he should sort it out - replacing the set means he still makes the original profit, which would seem to be the way to go.

I would just like to say I wouldnt touch LG stuff after having bought a 42" LCD of their's, Set it up to discover 6 frozen pixels all over the screen a couple just of the centre, I was told by a mate that the same panel is also in their "Scarlet" range, no wonder they have a joint production plant with Philips in Poland, they have the same production standards, i.e. CR*P!
