1, Laura - one of the best performances ever on X Factor
2. Diana - really enjoyed her performance and has a great voice.
3. Alexandra - Would have been one but didn't think the song choice was the best
4. Ruth - Surprised me and good to look at
5. GirlBand - I really think they only were in the bottom 2 as they were on first.
6. JLS - Good if a tad dull at times.
7. Rachel - Consdering the song choice I thought hse did the best she could
8. Austin - Forgetable for me
9. Bad Lashes - something with them just didn't work , though Girl Band were better.
10. Eoghan - He whispered the whole song?
11. Daniel - Dull. Dull.Dull.
12. Scott - Awful song choice, a real letdown

1) Laura - amazing
2) Alexandra - and she didn't take it down a key like most do, mind you, neither did Laura come to that....
3) Diana - really surprised me, beautiful version of the song, one I would definitley buy.
4) Ruth - thought she sang well and also looked amazing.
5) JLS - not my kind of thing as a rule but they were very good, by far the best of the bands and Louis's only hope.
6) Eoghan - nice voice, not to my taste but he sang better than
7) Austin, who was very disappointing compared to how he'd been in the auditions, I was expecting something far, far better
8) Bad Lashes - thought they had some good harmony going on and should have been given another weeks grace
9) Rachel - to be fair it was the songs fault but I really do not like her voice very much anyhow, nothing to do with any other 'issues'
10) Daniel - not a bad voice but I really don't think he should have been there. Willing to give him another shot though, he seems a lovely man.
11) Girlband - they were like something you'd see on stage in Butlins!
12) Scott - absolutley dire. He's very lucky he's still there. I know he did the best with the song he had but it was just nowhere near good enough. Would love to know what Cowell's ulterior motive really was. Was it 'Oh, let's all give Simon a huge round of applause for admittimg he's wrong?' Smelt fishy to me.

The biggest shocks were Austin and Diana. Diana far excelled what I was expecting of her, whereas Austin let us down.

3. JLS - the first solo singer was rubbish but their harmonies are good
4. Austin - i love this guy but he didnt shine tonight, lots more to come

5. Ruth
6. Eoghan
7. Diana - i just dont get it! marmite...
8. Rachel - not keen on her voice at all. wrong song too.
9. Bad Lashes - liked the Wonderwall, shame it wasnt enough to save them
10 Daniel - unfortunately very average
11. Girl Band
12. Scott - that song...

ok for me I think HOW THEY SANG THE SONG wise for this week ( not person wise )

best of the night

AUSTIN (good & should only get better each week then win)
ALEXANDRA (may have sang her best song too early on)
LAURA (one of the best of the night but see how she goes)

ok of the night

JLS (not bad for a tv show boyband at all shows promise)
GIRLBAND ( not much more they can do, but was ok)

the forgetful list of the night
DIANA (sorry cant stand that voice "a cough sweet"please)
RACHEL ( what was that)
RUTH (didnt work for me)
EOGHAN ( maybe in a few years)
BAD LASHES (bad singers as well)
DANIEL (maybe 10 years ago, but not now, not bad)
SCOTT (simon's song choice had very nearly destroyed his chances for all the other weeks now given that he will frorm now on till he goes be judged with the worst comments each week, lets hope not though as I think he may stand out given the right song)

this is all nothing more than my view of first weeks songs and everyone will think different things of last night,

my thoughts on who will win the show and be in the final

AUSTIN WINNER
ALEXANDRA RUNNER UP
RACHEL THIRD

Fantastic
1. Laura - genuinely unique, seriously classy talent
2. Diana - another unique and surprising talent
3. Alexandra - excellent, but just a bit 'heard it before'

Very good/good/acceptable
4. JLS - shaky start, strong finish, likeable
5. Eoghan - don't like him but he did nail this song, as Cheryl said a big song for his very limited voice
6. Ruth - I thought this and her look were dated. I think she'll do better next time
7. Austin - pleasant but no big moment
8. GirlBand - I quite liked them but wanted something more original in the arrangement
9. Rachel - no longer looked like herself and the song went nowhere. Go back to the real you, dear
10. Bad Lashes - bad song choice, hated the makeover

Cringemaking
11. Scott - straight from an end of the pier talent show
12. Daniel - all sob story, no talent and grinned mindlessly

What the heck was that song Scott sang? I've never heard it in my life and it was terrible!

I like Laura, Rachel, Austin, Ruth and Alexandra. The rest I don't really care for.

Diana was dire. I don't understand any form of even apathy for her nasally tones, she can't even say "you" properly. My goodness.

Best:

1) JLS
2) Laura
3) Alexandra
4) Diana
5) Austin

OK:

6) Rachel
7) Bad Lashes
8) Eggnog

Rubbish:

9) Daniel

11) Girlband
12) Scott

Rachel would have normally been in my 'best' catagory but her song obviously let her down!

My thoughts (my thoughts are in no order):

The two girl bands were poor IMO, and thats being nice. It Must Have Been Love is a classic but the girl's voices were all over the place. Either screechy or flat.
But I felt Girlband were more moving in the "sing off".
Girl Band: 4.5/10
Bad Lashes: 3/10
Laura - excellent. 8.5/10
Diana - interesting song choice, her voice seemed a bit high, like an Irish warble. 6.5/10
Alexandra has a great voice and looked fantastic in that dress 8/10
Rachel - great voice, wrong song choice. Why was she wearing a business suit? And her "dancers" did nothing? 7/10
Eoghan was a bit quiet but much better than I thought he would be. 8/10
Daniel - Pub singer. Meh. Oh dear
He's a nice guy though. 3.5/10
Scott - Very naff song choice indeed, awful. Didnt work and came across more like a Pontins performance as Simpn said. The original song is a classic. 3/10
Ruth - Not the song choice I thought but love her She sang well and was very sexy 8/10

Is it me or does Austin look like Anthony (the camp one from Eton Rd)?
Hogzilla
13-10-2008
Yes I thought he looked like the camp one from Eton Rd and as he's one of my most favourites ever, that's not a bad thing.

Best to worst..

1. Laura - been my favourite since her first audition
2. Austin - he's a bit more quirky than the usual bland ones
3. JLS - pretty close to faultless already but looking old fashioned, now
4. Rachel - brilliant voice, and an empowering sob story rather than a poor ickle me one
5. Alexandra - excellent but bland
6. Diana - interesting but still feeble

The rest of them are much of a muchness. As particularly bad I would single out Girlband (who styled them? Pammy Ewing?) and the repellent little kid whose name I forget but should dye his eyebrows to match his hair, and Ricky Gevais who I thought gave the worst performance ever on a live show. Ever. Musically, anyway. Although as one of the judges said - nice teef.

Should say the Pontins skinhead was so awful I just temporarily forgot him, then. He needs to be home. Only survived at all because of Simon's apology.

Ah and Spanish lady - too Eurovision.

I agree about Rachel in the sense she's facing up to what she's done, obviously shes not proud of that and wants a better life for her/her kids Good for her IMO.
I wanted to like Diana but didnt like her voice with the wavery Irish twang (no offence to Irish ), it was an interesting song choice though.
God Scott was rubbish.
Daniel was awful too, pub singer IMO.
Do you mean he only stayed as Simon said he made a mistake?
Girlband and Bad Lashes were pretty crap, they were all singing at different pitches, so putting that together (and sometimes even if you didnt) they were out of tune.
