it's probably their most famous song as well. Are the X factor powers- that- be really that ignorant of any music outside of cheesy pop?

If Oasis ever split, Noel could have a career as a stand up comic.

They said they were doing the Ryan Adams version. It's arpeggiated chords, at a slower tempo, and a very slightly altered melody.

They made a mistake persisting with Wonderwall, since neither version is suited to a group of female pop singers.

Ryan Adams sang a version, they are singing his version . . . terribly!
And for people preparing to slag Ryan Adams off, the fact that you do not know him and do not like his version of the song, doesn't make him a bad singer.

Ryan Adams is hardly obscure - well, maybe to some people who haven't branched out in music - and he's amazing.

He has country influences, but his music is really broad and "alternative". Come Pick Me Up is far from country.

Noel Gallagher happens to love the Ryan Adams version of his song, and even prefers it to the Oasis original:

I love Ryan Adams' version as much as the original (and I'm a big Oasis fan). It's absolutely beautiful.

Like others have pointed out Dermot didn't say the song was written by Adams, he said it was the Ryan Adams version (badly imitated by Bad Lashes though!)

Dermot had to point out it was that version in case the masses heard it and went "omgz, wot iz thiz, it's nuffin like Oasis!" and thought the world had gone off-kilter.

Bad Lashes, though, don't sing it well.
