Ratio question
hope this hasnt been asked too often, I did a search but could only find a similar question re cinema ratios.
We set up our new 37" panasonic lcd yesterday, and connected the dvd and V+box. Most programmes and films fill the screen totally, but some channels, mostly the kids Nick channels - shows such as Spongebob - are showing with black bars at either side. I think the disney channel is too. We've tried altering the output individually for these programmes but to fill the screen you need zoom2 but this cuts the top off the heads of the actors (or their cartoon equivalents )Just checking this is normal? If its just the way its broadcast then thats ok, but wondered if we needed to adjust our connections somehow? |

Sadly a lot of TV companies still produce programmes in the old 4:3 format. Hopefully they will change to 16:9 in due course. In the meantime the best way to view is with the black bars at the side.

thanks for the reply, I'll get the kids (and me!) to keep watching Spongebob with the black bars then, it beats the zoom with the heads clipped off a bit!
