Does Dannii have a gameplan?
Going into Big Brother territory here (
) but I clicked on to something last night.Dannii didn't seem bothered at all about her acts not having the right songs, so being slated by the panel and the same happened last year for the first few weeks, which she then went on to win. Maybe I'm reading into things too much but is she doing it on purpose so that in later weeks she can give them good songs, then the judges can say how much they've improved, then as a result they win over more fans? |

I don't think she any game plan other than that she wants to win like the rest of them.
I thought her coices were brilliant cos she pushes them into trying things they wouldn't normally do plus helping them to find where their voices belongs. |

Except Rhydian was good from week 1 last year... I think Dannii takes some time to understand her act's strengths and weaknesses, as do a lot of the mentors. Based on the feedback tonight, only Rachel was critiqued for having a poor song choice, I think Dannii achieved what she set out to do with Rachel's song (crowd participation, energy, the unexpected etc). Whether that was the right thing to do or not is subjective. Rachel made it through so lets see what she comes up with next week. In the case of Daniel; well, he was dull to begin with so I don't personally think there's much to work with there. He'll end up singing whatever he is given to the best of his abilities but I don't think he'll ever be named as the best performance of the night. Ruth was given a godess style appearance, pushing the sex-factor down our throats, which worked wonders. Her song choice wasn't inspired but neither was it bland. She will need to do something more interesting than sing the first few lines in Spanish to stick around though. |

Don't get me wrong, I really like Dannii...but if her choices were brilliant why were all her acts so forgetable last night?
![]() I thought they all did a good job and they were all out of their comfort zone, especially Rachel and yet she lit up the stage. |

Boy if that's Daniel being pushed out of his comfort zone...he really is as dull as watching paint dry.
It has lots of lows but also lots of highs and that's like the perfect song when learning how to perform with a live voice. The voice should be like an instrument, float as you change the key. It should be irrelevant if you (meaning all) like the song or not, the point is that they get challenged. |

He was. He sang a song which is very difficult to sing.

Well, it's no good him learning how to perform if he's not appealing to the public at the same time too. The point is to get votes. This is a singing competition not stage school.
![]() You can sing well with safe songs and still nobody really cares. They stayed, didn't they?

I dont think she has a game plan except that to win which all of them do!
I think she did the right thing experimenting with different styles i.e. with Rachel, I'd do the same thing as a judge because it's week 1 there's less of a chance of each contestant going. But as the weeks go on and the numbers get less there's obviously a bigger chance. If Dannii had tried the song with Rachel say in week 6 or 7 the chance of her going would have increased. And I'd guess the same about what Simon did with Scott too. Looking from a judges point of view I'd say its better to get these things tested early so they know what works and what doesnt when the competition gets more heated as there are less contestants. I think she got Ruth's song spot on though she was amazing! xx |
