It'll be interesting to see where Simon goes with Eoghan - he's 16 but looks 12, so song lyrics will have to be carefully chosen”

OMG - Please no. I cannot bear for YRMU to become an XF anthem. I hate that bliddy song. And I agree with you, I hope that Simon (who can't pick songs for toffee - poor Scott) doesn't ruin Eoghan's chances by inviting suggestions from his flippin' mother.

Hold that thought 'til we get the album... I don't think it's all Bublé-esque although some might be a bit.

It's not his singing I'm talking about Zip - Leon has a unique sound and I love his voice. It's the way he's moulded his image. Leon is not a short cut and sides/suit person. He's an artistic lad who had a great look. Why try and make him into someone he isn''t?

Yes, this was the final straw for me.

The Archuleta route for Eoghan might work, but the David Cook route for Austin seems disastrous. He had a perfectly good style of his own and original songs - I love Happy Now. This would make him look like a copy of another reality show winner, David hasn't fully distanced himself from it yet even. I really hope this isn't where he's headed or that he changes his mind.

I don't have anything against Austin or Eoghan, but it's pretty poor of Simon to set two of his acts up to emulate the finalists in American Idol, then give Scott such a bum deal.

Yup. I thought exactly the same. The same arrangement as well.

The problem is it invited comparisons, and there was no comparison.

Yeah...I know you love Leon's voice. Fair enough, then, RS. I quite like the new look though....maybe it's my age? LOL

I can't see an obvious link between Austin and DC? Except that they are not conventionally good looking, IMO. I liked DC and was glad he won. As for Austin...a different style altogether. Let's just hope Simon sees that.

Sometimes I think Simon has no vision. So conservative in his music taste at times.

I'm not that young myself but I've always been a bit arty farty. I'm just not sure that Leon is comfortable with his new image. I bet he grows his hair longer before the year is out.

At times! The man has one of the narrowest views of music I've ever seen, and an extremely poor knowledge of music generally - sing a song he doesn't know (and my god there's a lot) and he will critisise it, no matter how good the actual performance was - proved on several occasions on AI this year

What really gets to me about Simon is his lack of appreciation for rock. It's a real frustration of mine that we hardly see any of this in XF. At least in AI, we have Randy J who will promote some such singers.

Simon will always go for the diva-big-notes/sweet-child singer over husky talent, IMO.

I didn't like Archuleta on the show - all the gasping and forgetting of the lyrics was irritating. I preferred Eoghan's version of this on the whole. Then again, I really dislike the song.

Me too.....hate Imagine. Not a fan of JL either.

I expect someone will use that arrangement at some point. I don't necessarily think it will mean Austin going down the DC route even if he uses it though. His song choice at the weekend certainly didn't suggest that is the intention. Eoghan is irrelevant, he won't get far in the show so they aren't going to get too worked up about making something out of him.

He has excellent vision in some regards. Give him a blank slate and he will create a multi million selling album or hit TV show. What I think he isn't so good at is seeing other people's vision at times, especially when it isn't that strong. Take Shayne Ward for example, he was suited to pop music and wanted to be a popstar, but never seemed entirely sure where he was going apart from that and so the results have been poor. I don't think either of them really knew where they were going.

In some cases he has been converted. He wasn't initially keen on Chris Daughtry, for example, but praised him heavily on the live shows. I was really surprised at how much he liked David Cook on AI and Diana so far, though. It doesn't necessarily fit with the image we have of him.

Yeah....while I am genuinely trying to see the big thing with Diana (I just can't...yet?), I was refreshed when Simon seemed to genuinely like her. She is different and part of me thought he'd slate her. I'm kinda glad he didn't.

As for having vision to see £££££. Oh yes. Zig and Zag, anyone?

Simon will always go for what he sees as the obvious and immediate big seller - for all his whittering on about finding the new Amy Winehouse, he'd choose Eoghan over her every time if they were stood in the same audition room (I'm talking Amy of a couple of years ago obviously).

For all her inane, insane ramblings, Paula was the first judge to champion David C on AI, if you could decipher was she was actually saying of course , Simon joined the bandwagon way later, after it was obvious Cook was winning the vote week after week (I think he won every vote from Mariah Carey week onwards)

Yeah....I think Simon would choose Eoghan over Amy W. But hey, I'd like to see what Eoghan can do. I was pleasantly surprised by the lad...and there is something subtle with his singing. He did that song well. For a kid of 16. Good on him.

LOL re Paula....she is a poor thing sometimes! Gets right on my goat but she's ok. Imagine having to sit behind her on AI? Does she ever sit on her touche? Jings...I think that woman would be up dancing to the Funeral March.

I agree on so many counts:-
- I strongly disklike the song "imagine" and firmly believe John Lennon was being sarcastic when he wrote it
- Eoghan siging it was so blatantly a rip off of Archuleta on AI - I was really expecting one of the other judges to talk about copying AI to Cowell
- I never really liked Archuleta (too cutesy) but thought his version was so much better than Eoghan's - I believe Eoghan's voice will be shown up as not strong enough in future weeks - particularly big band week.

By the way, did anyoe else try to V+ Xtra factor, but got an old version of Britain's Got More Talent?

There was a technical hitch on both repeats

I don't think Eoghan was ripping off David A, he might never have heard of him let alone heard him.

Rather Scowell was being his usual lazy and cheap self - why bother to think up anything new or take a risk or do any work when the rights have already been bought and another teenager has already worked out the arrangement and sung the song. I bet it took Scowell 3 nanoseconds to txt his secretary to tell Eoghan this is what to sing, get on with it, don't disturb me, I'm a busy man.

For this reason Cheryl and Dannii will do disproportionately well - they will work hard as mentors, the two guys are bored and just taking the money. In Cheryl's case she has the best acts anyway, but Dannii has the chance to pull hers up beyond their natural rank, as she did with Leon last year.

I don't think Eoghan was ripping off Archie, but Cowell definately was

I agree again - I don't blame Eoghan - this is all Down to Cowell.

I have an awful feeling Austin will end up singing Billie Jean on the Michael Jackson week. If he does, then the little respect I still had for Simon will go down the drain. I completely agree with the people saying Simon's knowledge in music is incredibly limited - I often get the impression that he's not passionate about music AT ALL - instead all he cares about is money, on these shows, all he looks for is someone who looks good, has a good recording voice and is appealing to the public. Out of all the judges on AI, he was the last to pick up on David Cook's talent - however, he loved Archie from the start. In fact, I still think that even at the end of the show he never truly apprecited Cook, anyone remember the final where Simon critised every one of his songs because they weren't the commercial ones he thought would sell. Well guess what, the people want originals, not carbon copies of things they've heard 10000000000 times before.

I think they may give him 'Got to Be There'. I soooo hope they don't give Eoghan 'Ben. Zzzzzzzzzzz <----- that song.
