He really over did it last night with the tears. Anyone who watched the Xtra factor will know this. All they told him was that it was the wrong song for him. So what do you think? To try and get sympathy or genuine tears? I think the former

I thought they were genuine because they really messed him up last night in all kinds of ways and then laid into him. More genuine than Austin.

I think it was genuine.

People are going on about how it was for sympathy, but ffs, the poor lad did his best and then got told it was awful and that he could be going home because of something out of his hands!

I didn't watch the Xtra Factor but on the main show, he did look genuinely upset and I wasn't surprised. I did feel sorry for him. I hope he is given a better song choice next week.

I think it was a bit of both, either way it worked, because he was by far the worst last night.

I thought it was all a bit staged and he annoyed me. Sure he got given a bad song but you have to make do with what you have...

Scott was genuine last night. We met him in the afternoon and he was great. Really bubbly, friendly guy. We were sitting where he walked off stage and you could see he was just crushed by the comments and really thought he was going home. He's not been a constant cryer like Austin so I definitely think he was genuinely gutted last nite.

They seemed genuine. I think he was a bit bemused, because he really thought they had his best interests at heart, and hasn't quite clicked that some of them are used to further the progress of others, often using sabotage. It makes it quite unpleasant to watch, and wouldn't be necessary if Simon Cowell really were good at his job, instead of being good at observing where others have been successful and trying to emulate it.

Whether they were real or not I don't know but either way it annoyed me as I know it has helped him with the votes. I mean what would have been the reasons for voting for him? Surely no one could have enjoyed his performance.. could they? His votes were from little girls who fancy him or felt sorry for him. Arhhhhh makes me angry as although Girlband didnt set the world alight, they gave a perfectly in tune performance. They were far from deserving of the bottom 2.

I thought it was very genuine.

He was clearly gutted that he could be going home through no fault of his own. I still don't really like him, but he deserves a second chance I guess.

I like scott, i dont know why but I do, and its not like me to like that sort of guy. I thought his tears were genuine until Xtra factor turned on, then it was blatantly obvious he had been told by simon "If you want to stay in the competition, turn on the tears whenever ur asked about your performance". I am almost certain if he had not cried he would have been in the bottom vs bad lashes.

And yet, if he hadn't have showed any emotion by the judges comments, he'd have been portrayed as uncaring and cocky.

He was given the worst song possible and a dodgy dance routine, manipulated to sabotage his chances of staying in the competition.

It's all there in the script...

They were definitely genuine. I felt that he thought his entire dream was slipping away from him.

What i dont get is....surely Simon would have seen Scott's performance during rehersals???? and thought omg this song choice has to be the worst ever...or did he do it on purpose to make people like Eoghan look better, Scott is to times better!

Simon must have seen him rehearse the song.

I agree. I think he was holding it together until Simon stated he had made a mistake in choosing the song for him.

I didn't see him on the Xtra Factor but his 'tears' after the judges comments were extremely false and rather cringe worthy. And I quite like the guy!

Simon went ahead with the terrible song choice because Scott is a very average singer. If he would have just given him a nice little ballad to sing, he probably would have been gone last night. By making him sing a song that resulted in car crash tv, girls go aww, give him the sympathy vote and their we go.. Instant fans for the wrong reasons. he survived despite being clearly the worst on the night. Isnt the first time something like this has happened. If a boy gives a terrible performance they usually get through the week unharmed.

I think they were very genuine. He looked so happy before and when he was performing and obviously thought the song was great for him and he would get quite positive comments. But the comments were bad and he probably got like the rejection feeling...... I don't think that made sense, but to summarise - I think they were genuine.

I think they were genuine, the lad looked crushed, after being humliated on national TV and not by his own doing. He got his 2nd chance, next week if its just as dire then only he will be to blame.

I thought that his distress was genuine - I think he thought that his big chance at stardom was ruined due entirely to Simon (I'm not saying that was the case, I'm saying I think that is what he thought). He could tell as the comments came how bad his performance was - so bad that the judges didn't even comment on it.

So I think he cried from frustration at Simon - but he needs to realise that everything Simon does is calculated. I don't believe he made a mistake with the song - like DIVALICIOUS, I think he knew Scott was on dodgy ground and gave him a deliberately difficult song to detract attention and get him a sympathy vote. And it worked

Simon's always extremely busy. I don't know if he's flying backwards and forwards for American Idol yet but I'd be surprised if he'd heard rehearsals until it was far too late to change anything.

Bear in mind that learning the song, arranging the song, choreographing the performance, planning the camera moves etc. all takes time. On such short time scales it doesn't take long to reach a point of no return where it's too late to change your mind.

I actually think the bad song choice helped Scott. I didn't agree with Simon picking him, I've always felt he was weak but I actually sent a vote his way last night because the bad song choice wasn't his fault and I thought he deserved a chance to at least show what he can do before he goes.

Regards

Julian
