You need to re-download the songs that are doing that.
Unfortuntaly there is no way you can fix it, it's not your fault, it is the quality of the MP3.

I have had to re-download PLENTY of MP3's cus of the dips in sound.

Nope, it's how the MP3 has been ripped.
And it can be annoying too. Especially when you have to delete it and re-download them, cus you don't know if you are downloading a perfect copy or not.

Actually there are plenty of ways you can make sure you're downloading a decent sounding copy of a song.
1. Check the bitrate is the highest possible (usually 192kbps is high enough though)
2. If there are tracks named the exact same thing make sure you select the one that has the most common length, because sometimes fake files can be hanging around and the one with the most common length will likely be the proper one (and of correct quality)
3. Certain peer to peer programs offer an option to preview or open the files they download before they are completed. If they don't then you can still go into the download folder where the incomplete files are stored and open them in the program of your choice. Do this and you'll be able to gauge whether an MP3 is correct or not before you waste all your time downloading the entire thing.

There's plenty of ways to avoid them.

First off, get the latest version of kazaa lite. Install it, open it up, and hit Tool, Options, IP Blocker Updater. Hit update, and restard kazaa. This will filter out most of the crap.

If you search for a file, and find lots of sources, click the + to the left of it, to see more about the sources. You will know it's fake if:

the same user is on that list more than once
the file sizes varies too much (it's OK if the file size varies by like 1 or 2 kb on a couple, or if say there are 20 3000kb files, and 1 2504kb song) a suspect one would be if there were lots and lots of different sizes
the bitrate varies. this is an instant sign, it should not vary at all. (the same rule applies though, if there's twenty 128s, and one 64, it should be ok)
the first results that come in after a search are listed seperatly, (i.e. not grouped) and are all shared by the same user - these will be fakes. (it's also useful to point out any other fakes on that page, cos if that person is sharing them, they're dodgy)
If you follow those point you should be able to avoid most fakes. But if you pay special attention to files, then you should be able to work out which ones aren't right.

One more thing, if you're downloading a file, and you're getting more than 10kbps MORE than your normal download rate for MORE than 15 seconds (like 15kbps+ for dial up, 70kbps+ for 512k broadband etc.) it's fake.

Happy downloading!

I am having a problem playing MP3's on my Pacific DVD. Some tracks have background noise, its a similar sound to the one you get blowing bubbles under water or listening to the sound that a tropical fish tank makes.

Anyone played MP3's on the Pacific 1002W?

It may not be dodgy downloads, because the majority of my MP3's are from my vinyl, encoded using Audiograbber at 128kb.

Audiograbber doesn't come with it's own MP3 encoder, so I don't know which one you are using, but it may not be much good. Try LAME (a dos based encoder that Audiograbber supports - it is good, never had any problems using it win WIn XP.) LAME sometimes come bundled with Easy CD creator, I think, and should be avaliable off the net.

Also, make sure you don't use the computer when encoding or grabbing - this could cause blips in sound.

Also try switching off any screensavers while encoding.

Thanks
Yeah I used Lame with my Audiograbber. They all play fine on PC (Winamp), also the ones I burned onto CD play ok in Realplayer, but I get that background noise when I play the CD in the DVD Player.

When the song is about 20% complete, best thing to do is to right-click on the song and press play. Then you can hear the first bits of what you have downloaded.
