If you can raise your budget by £50 you could get the Sony STRDG820 receiver and Yamaha NSP110 speaker package - this will over the best system for £300 out there.

yes up your budget
HDMI inputs is the key and HDMI version 1.3 its the new scart, so get as many as you can you could try the Onkyo 605 which is last years model to the 606 but the Sony more HDMI connections |

I just bought a 606 and have to say I'm delighted with it. These guys have the 576 which might be an option... http://www.thehomecinemacentre.co.uk...-TX-SR576.html And I can happily vouch for the service... Neither the Glasgow or Edinburgh Richers actually had the Sony last week.... Just a load of waffle. Glasgow told me it was being recalled as it didn't work with Sky. Edinburgh were trying to convince me they were coming in but 'almost' all spoken for.... (yeah right!) |

Have you found the Onkyo issue with sky? I have one, well, an 805, but they all do it. The deadly pause before audio cuts back in after channel change, pause/play, well anything really. They adhere very strictly to HDMI spec, and apparently this is the result (so I'm told) I still think mine's top value, but all should be aware of the drawback, in case it's a fatal flaw for you.

I have some bloody huge trees at the back of the house that block a dish. And just to add insult to injury there's no cable here either ![]() (Yes; I'm moving when I can!) I replaced a 5-y/o JVC E100 with the 606. Running Gale 2's that I've had for about 15 years (former edit suite monitors). Just loving the improved channel separation and the dynamics are a vast improvement too. And of course it's great to dump tha last of those damned SCART leads

Where would you get a 605 AND speakers for £300? Or even £350?

best thing really is go down to richersounds and have a chat with the people there, or if your near a sevenoaks as well,(ok theya re more expensive) the shop in plym is really good. Plus you'll want to hear the set up before it is in your house, most places will let you play with the equipment , take your own music or vids down with you to hear the quality.
Stick to your budget but dont be afraid to go up by 30 quid but if you can haggle as well. |
