Even the audience laughed mockingly at the OTT graphics, the studio going red, the dramatic boom etc.

They're only going to the public vote which they have done in previous series - prior to there being four judges if one wouldn't vote (usually Sharon) they simply went to Kate to announce the result. Now they actually have to give it a name??

And they should have asked Louis first so he didn't have a chance to throw the result but that's for another thread.

Does anybody agree? I love The X Factor as it tends not to take itself too seriously but 'DEADLOCK!!!!!!' is completely at odds with that.

It was so funny how sections of the audience laughed when they heard the deadlock sound effect. It is supposed to give off tension and drama yet i found it particularly cheesy and amusing.

I think the whole concept would work better at the later stages of the competition but they need to change the visual & sound effect to it because it all looks naff.

The only one who seemed to take it seriously was Dermot whilst he was going on with himself. He was way out of his depth to fill time. It would be better if they just went straight to the public vote said through Dermot's earpiece. It would look less contrieved and cringeworthy anyway.

I meant they should have asked him first i.e. before the other judges. I know they were setting it up for him to have the final decision between his two acts but the end result was an anti-climax.

I thought it looked tacky too, the audience know what 'deadlock' means and didnt need the cheap graphics.

All that was missing from that was some pyrotechnics and the envelope coming down from the ceiling accompanied by O Fortuna as though it was God arriving, which they flog to death allover the show and its lost its effect

Yeah lol at the ridiculousness of the 'DEADLOCK!' graphics and announcement. I loved that the audience laughed at it too. I think quite a lot of the X Factor is really OTT tbh. The intro for each act and the voice over man. I like most of that, except in the case of 'DEADLOCK'.

Probably because everyone wanted one of them two to stay, in our house it was Beverley

Noone really cares about the acts that get kicked out in the first week.
