Tinned vegetables?
Handy and convenient, or the last refuge for the lazy cook?

At least it is getting some sort of vegetable inside you. Peas and sweetcorn are genuinely nice but the potatos (last tried many moons ago) were pretty rank.

I find tinned tomatoes taste a bit like vomit, but I've always got time for tinned sweetcorn. I sometimes sit and eat it on its own

I use tinned plum toms and put a dollop of brown sauce in the pan with them to thicken it up and thats my tomato soup.
Or tinned toms on toast, with brown sauce. I do like my brown sauce. Sweetcorn also handy for a tuna mix and in stir fries - and I've eaten sweetcorn straight from the tin too! Loved marrowfat peas when I was a kid, wouldn't eat any other type. Ratatouille handy to go on jacket spuds, and I've bought the mixed beans for salads. Potatoes, carrots and mushrooms are pretty yuk and bland though. |

I quite like those tinned new potatoes.........
![]() Obviously it's an acquired taste and they don't taste much like any potato I've every eaten but they have their own distinct flavour, which I like............ Tinned processed peas are fine...........I prefer dried peas but you have to soak them overnight and cook for 45 minutes. They do make incredibly 'mushy peas' but it's a lot of trouble.......... Baked beans..........natch ! Kidney Beans.........I always used to use the dried ones, but tinned are so much more convenient I always found tinned carrots to be yucky, limp.........totally devoid of 'crunch' which is the main point of a carrot........I only eat them raw. The very thought of tinned mushrooms makes me sick....... |

Same here. I'm just getting in to having them cooked but for me they still need a bite to them.

I eat tinned Batchelors mushy peas, Branston baked beans, Crosse And Blackwell garden peas ( best tasting! ), butter beans, baby carrots, tinned sweetcorn. Also have tinned whole tomatoes with bacon and toast. Have fresh veg. too but tinned count towards 5 a day and are convenient.
Oh tinned creamed mushrooms on toast! |

Oh tinned creamed mushrooms on toast! I use chick peas, sweetcorn, tomatoes, butter beans, kidney beans, pinto beans and baked beans. Spinach is the worse I've come across. |

I use tinned sweetcorn regularly, very convenient and tastes great, esp the ones with little bits of mixed peppers through them.
I use a lot of tinned chickpeas and mixed beans as well, I do used the dried versions of these but if they are going into a curry or chili sauce then the tinned is just as good. I used tinned tomatoes on a regular basis, I hate fresh tomatoes they are revolting so any tomato based dish I make, it is tinned tomatoes I use. I always have a tin of carrots in the cupboard, they are edible but I much prefer fresh carrots as I like them with a bit of crunch so I only use them if I've forgot to but fresh carrots to have with my meal. I noticed the other day my local corner shop is selling tinned Brussel sprouts, that almost made me throw up a little, I can't think of a worst tinned veg. YUK. |

My mum used to like tinned garden peas and tinned carrots. The carrots aren't too bad, just to eat. Very sweet.

Tinned button mushrooms are surprisingly nice.
We regularly use tinned sweetcorn, mushy peas and plum tomatoes. |

I'm not a fan of tinned veg but they are okay. First I use fresh, if I'm out I'll go for frozen, however having a tin of peas or corn on hand is always great in a pinch if I haven't been shopping.
Other than that the only thing I really buy is tinned tomatoes. So many things I make use tomatoes but I can't keep enough on hand for my whims. I'll usually have some passata on hand to make them but if I don't the tins really come in handy, put them in a food processor with some herbs and such, lovely. Especially for my favourite....Stuffed Peppers...YUM! |

Tinned tomatoes and sweetcorn are nice.
I can't stand tinned peas or carrots. Tinned beans are very good as you don't risk undercooking them. I have never seen brussels in a tin. |
