When it comes to general problem like this I really don't know what forumn to post in, but hopefully I have the right one.

When my tv (hitachi 24" widescreen 2 years old) has been on for several hours, it refuses to come on again once swiched off or placed in standby mode.

No amount of pressing the buttons or waiting will get it come on. What I have learnt is that if I unplug it from the mains for a couple of hours it will then come on okay (once I plug it back in!!!)

This has been the case for three months or so. However for the last year it has been turning itself off for no good reason, and then turning itself back on a second later.

Obviously this is a repairman job, but I was wondering if from the symptoms anyone could work out whats at fault. I'm guessing its some sort of voltage cahrging/capatience problem, but i "know nothing".

Maybe a charge is building up somewhere and the TV isnt liking it..

Hello there

this is a common symptom with Hitachi TVs (they are extremely unreliable) and the fault is that the TV detects a fault somewhere in the set and switches off to protect itself, you will need an Hitachi Qualified technician look at it..... most hitachi tvs get knocked over* (hint hint).......
