did you see simon and louis faces??
I guess those stories about certain mentors not really taking part in the weekly process was true.
IMO cheryl totally wiped the floor with the others last night

Cheryl was always going to, she has the best acts

iits not just the fact that she got the best act, a lot of people seem to overlook the Girls aloud factor. I think a member of such a popular british band, with such a huge following, should never be a xfactor mentor. ANd the other judges will find out soon enough, just how popular she is, and some of her acts will survive some weeks, only based on the Girls aloud factor!

Cheryl is a good mentor - she gives exceptional emotional support and having been through it herself she no doubt empathises and handles them correctly. Her song choices, makeovers, outfits and routines were all well judged. The other three judges all chose at least one indifferent or downright odd song choice - in Bad Lashes case it cost them their chance.

i imagine that the amount of time ANY of the mentors actually spends working with the artists is nominal.

Cheryl has said that she either sees them personally or telephones them every single day.

Cheryl seems the most dedicated judge

I really like Dannii

I read that the judges have been frosty towards each other recently. They need to try to behave amiably towards each other during the live shows. The sulky faces (particularly Simon and Louis) spoilt the atmosphere a bit. I don't think it helps the contestants, either, when the people judging them are sitting there with long, glum faces!

I'd say Danni is actually.

Cheryl and Danni do care. But its getting obvious that Louis and Simon could not give a damn about their contestants. Simon I think is pretty bored of the whole thing.

I thought Cheryl did a really good job, all three girls got good songs that suited them perfectly.

Dannii did okay, but a very lazy, boring choice with Daniel, at least she tried something different with Rachel, not what I'd have gone for, but I could see her reasoning.

Louis - boring, predictable and old fashioned choices.

Simon - two predictable choices, especially the Archuleta rip off, which would only work if he was actually better then Archie - and he isn't, and one dreadful choice for Scott, who's a very average singer in the first place, so that was never going to go well.

Cheryl did a very good job- she got the right songs for each artist.

Simon got Scotts wrong, Louis got Bad Lashes wrong and Dannii got Rachels wrong.

So well done Cheryl!

I thought Simon looked bored throughout most of Saturday nights show. It must be really offputting for the acts!

To be fair, Simon will no doubt do more work on this show than all 3 other judges together, just that much of it will be above the level of giving motivational speeches to the contestants! I thought the song choice for Austin was his worst, though. Scott's choice saved him.

Fortunately for him, being bored and grumpy fits in with his persona. But having just started American Idol, he's now onto talent show number 17!

Her acts also say it. The acts of Louis and Simon also say that they don't see their mentors much at all, something that niether judge denys. Why would everyone on the show (including Louis and Simon) lie to make Cheryl look good and themselves bad?

Yes I think you are right that Simon in effect runs the show, and thus puts in a lot of work in that respect. I think Louis is the worst mentor because he seems to not really care about the acts.

When are people going to realise that this mentoring stuff is just total cack. It is just done to add another dimension to the tv show. Simon realised after PI that a straightforward talent show wasn't enough so he added all this stuff to add drama. None of them really do anything & neither does Simon want one of his acts to win over another act if they are the best. He has to take them as a recording artist. (Just watch he will be saying that Alex is potentially world class in a few weeks time ). Last year Danni as the new judge got the best acts - this year it is Cheryl. Come on - surely everybody must realise this is not just coincidence.

Simon seemed like he couldn't wait for the show to end - he just seemed tired and bored. Hopefully that was just down to him working so hard on so many other things and he gets more into this show.

The judges' lack of working with their talent definitely showed (excluding Cheryl), especially Simon and Louis who seemed shocked at their singers bad performances, especially with Simon and Scott where Simon had this look on his face of "uh-oh, wth did i do" and he probably thought to himself he should have seen Scott perform that song at least once prior to the lives rather than giving it to him and then jetting off across the pond.

Very impressed by Cheryl, from what i've read, she's really been investing time and effort into her girls and it definitely showed with them doing songs they're comfortable with and performing brilliantly.

Is she coming back next season? Because i read that she decided to do the show because they had some time off of touring because they were working on the new album hence she had time to do the show. I hope she comes back, even though she's emotional at times, i really enjoyed her on the show.
