who else does not like girls aloud?
i see them have a thread on here
granted only one person seems to keep it alive! but why are these girls even successful? they dont write their songs, dont produce their songs and are just puppets for a very good management team it must be hard for them to know that sugababes and atomic kitten have sold more records than them this past decade and that girls aloud cant even have a hit single outside the uk girls aloud also rip off everyone elses style |

Ok, calm down. Obviously your a sugababes fan. I believe these girls can sing and also have the looks. These girls are sucessful because they have the likeability factor.

Very few bands and groups write their own songs these days though, so I don't hold that against them. They are not my cup of tea personally but I think that there is a lot worse in the charts. I think that they are probably succesful because they are all pretty and this gives the media something to fuss over. Their sons are sort of anthemic and annoyingly catchy.

Oh I hope this isn't going to be a fan war between Sugababe and Girls Aloud fans.
What I don't get is that, you can be a fan of both and just a fan of one without having to hate or dislike the other. Not to do with here but I notice The Saturdays are getting stick from Girls Aloud fans on Youtube! whats that about!!! |

I love Girls Aloud, Sugababes and The Saturdays. There's no rivalry between the groups (Girls Aloud are mates with both), so why the need for fans to start things and stir up animosity? Genuinely confusing.

I love Girls Aloud and I love The Saturdays too. I don't like all the rivalry between girl band fans and the "you can only like one" mentality.

I love all three, of course there is a rivalry but it's mainly caused by the fans.

They properly won't last past the 1st album. |

Pete Waterman: But have you got the pop factor? 2 Up 2 Down: We've got more than the pop factor - we've got the likeability factor!

I don't hate them, but I fail to see the hype, the group is based on overstyling and catchy songs written for them which they're just an "outfit" for - anyone can have a hit with their songs - their personalities don't shine through at all, its fairly lifeless music in all fairness.

In response to the question posed by the thread, I for one don't like Girls Aloud much either.
I grew to resent 'Sound of the underground' pretty quickly because of the sheer amount of requests for the darn thing when doing the old mobile dj routine. I also absolutely hated the arrangement and their inferior vocals on the cover of the classic Pointer Sister's 'Jump.' Admittedly the Pointer Sister's version is definitely very 1980s in sound, but how anybody could prefer Girls Aloud's vocals defies belief. I used to get asked specifically NOT to play the Girls Aloud version of 'Jump' when DJing. I would put it in the same category as pretty bad cover versions such as Westlife's 'Uptown Girl' and Steps' 'Chain Reaction.' I haven't liked a single thing they have released. I think a lot of their 'original' hits are too formulaic. In my opinion, they have recorded pretty dire cover versions of 1980s classics specifically Dee C. Lee's "See the day," Tiffany's "I think we're alone now," and THATcollaboration with Sugababes... |

![]() Besides, the songs are written specifically for Girls Aloud - the writers draw influence from each girl, and they'll offer imput and each sing the lines in order to create the best version of the song possible. They don't just turn up, sing a designated line and then go home again. The two are very much a team. |

Elvis didn't write his own songs, didn't produce his own songs and was a puppet for a very good management team and he became the King of Rock 'n' Roll
![]() Wow. I didn't know this. That's a good defence for people trying to say that if you don't write or produce your own music then you're shit. Which BTW is total BS. If the song is good, who cares who has written or produced it. |
