Advice on which TV to buy
I will be purchasing a new tv in the next couple of weeks. I have a budget of around £1200. I am thinking of getting either the Pioneer PDP-428XD or the Panasonic TH 42PZ800B. I am drawn towards the Pioneer. Are there any other TVs that will offer a better/similar picture quality for my price bracket (or cheaper)?
I dont have sky HD at the moment, but again this will be something I will purchase nearer xmas. I have a PS3, and will be using this to watch Blu-Ray discs. Thanks for any input. |

For me it has to be Sony as well.
I would get this tv: http://www.sony.co.uk/product/t32-x-series/kdl-40x3500 Superb picture and sound quality and outstanding reviews. You can get it for around £1200 - 1300 on Amazon i think. If your willing to wait until the beginning of next year then get this tv: http://www.sony.co.uk/product/t32-zx-series/kdl-40zx1 It's only 3mm thick and wireless

I'll add my vote for the PZ, you might consider the PZ85 and ditch sky, it has an HD fresat built in.

Unfortunately the Pioneer PDP-428XD and PDP4280XD are both discontinued. They are still some available, but are costing a premium. All the reviews I have read, said this was a great tv..just dont think I can justify (and afford) the £1500 price tag, especially since I will be purchasing a stand as well.
So I have got a list of three Panasonic TH 42PZ800B, the Sony Z4500 and the Sony W4500. According to posters on AVForums the PZ800B and W4500 are both very good. The Z4500 is new, so not that much info on it at the moment. Went to my local Sony centre today, they didnt have the Z4500 on display yet. Saw the W4500 and the PZ800B (at the panasonic center). The price difference is around £150 between the two (thats after a quick look). The decision seems to be whether I want an LCD or plasma screen. Leaning towards a plasma, and thus the PZ800B. Since I will be getting sky HD, I am not too fussed about the freesat HD tuner built in..so that discounts the PX81. Thanks for all your help guys. |

The LG is absolutely not in the ball park for overall quality compared to Sony and Panasonic. I personally wouldn't touch one with a barge pole. Life might be good, but only until something goes wrong, which is very often straight out of the box. Be afraid when they tell you it needs a firmware upgrade.
