The wife thinks I have too many, what's a normal amount to have for a keen cook to have

griddle pan
2 frying pans
wok
saute pan
3 saucepans
stock pot
3 casseroles (also used as saucepans)

I want 2 more frying pans

Six saucepans
2 Saute pans
3 Frying pans
A cast iron griddle pan, sorry, 2 cast iron griddle pans.
A pasta pan
A stockpot
3 casseroles
A flat griddle pan (no ridges)
I am drowning in pans! Trouble is I can always convince myself that the next Le Creuset is simply essential. I'm a bit like that with knives as well....
My best investment was a rack that hangs from the ceiling that holds most of my pans. There is no way my wife would let me get away with so many without it.

Griddle plate (goes over 2 rings of cooker)
Saute pan
1 frying pan
1 pancake pan
3 x stainless steel saucepan sets (9 pans)
Milk pan
2 woks (small and large)
2 stock pots
3 large casseroles
2 x sets of 3 casseroles
Can't begin to list the baking tins/trays I have
6 cooling wires

I do have an 8 ring cooker, with 2 ovens and seperate grill
Fantastic for Xmas dinner - last year was the easiest Xmas dinner I have ever cooked as I had plenty of space to be cooking all the veg at the same time, and double oven space to keep anything warm that needed it!

Please can I have your kitchen??

Also, what is a pancake pan like? Is it similar to a normal frying pan?

Lemonhunny, you have just made me feel much better.

We have:
1 griddle pan
2 frying pans (1 large, 1 small)
2 woks (a legacy of two students moving in together)
1 stock pot (with pasta insert)
2 casseroles (1 large, 1 small)
1 paella dish
1 bain marie
1 preserving pan
5 odd saucepans, only one of which has a proper lid. I have just asked for some decent ones for Christmas so that we can get rid of this lot (another legacy of our student days.)

The one that really embarrasses me though is the fact that we have four baking dishes of varying sizes. We do use all of them, but it is slight overkill.

I dread to think.
The over-spill has gone on a shelf in the garage.
My favourite is 6" deep by 6" wide.
It's great.
I can boil thing up and not fear the water will spill over the hob in my absence.
As you may gather, I'm not the World's most enthusiastic cook.

I own 3 pots (small, med and large), 1 large pan and 1 wok.

And 2 baking trays

Still need to get loads but we've never got round to it and in all honesty after 10 months without anything else I am wondering if we actually need any more pots / pans???

I own about 8 pans, some rather large, some medium sized, and at least one of them small sized.

Far too many. I recently treated myself to a new set of pans but I just can't bear throwing the old ones out.

I've never counted. I do have a lot though.

On the other hand I only have one frying pan.

Loads - rack from ceiling - shelf on wall with hanging hooks underneath and in one cupboard. Plus the ones I keep at my MIL as I can't use her pans, cheap and nasty things.

I have been meaning to buy some decent pans for ages so when I saw some on Debenhams website reduced from £170 to £50 I jumped at the chance.

The pans arrived today but they are not non stick, I must have misread the blurb - are non stick pans better?

Nope - but does depend on what you're using them for. As a very general idea, for all round cooking, stainless steel is fine. For some types of frying, non-stick can be an advantage.

Debenhams pans are usually pretty good. Decent bit of weight on them and reasonably thick bases. I've got a couple that are serving me well

What have you got?
