PVR80/T801/DPVR801 - loses recording schedule

Hi Guys & Gals,

I gather these are one and the same chassis. We have Asda's DPVR801, 2+ years old. Firmware version v5.3(UK)

The problem is that we power off (yes, really unplug) each night. Next day, any recordings scheduled for the next day are 'forgotten'.
No other setup data is affected.
I've opened it up, but don't see any button cells or similar.

Does one of you experts have the solution please?

Will try most things to retain domestic harmony

Thanks in advance,
Nigel

I have the digihome version of this PVR and also power it off every night. It always kept the scheduled recordings until about 2 months ago and it now does the same as yours so I assumed that a battery had failed as well.

I haven't opened it up yet to look for a battery but there must be one somewhere surely?

I'm pretty sure there are no regular batteries in there - maybe a capacitor based "battery", in which case the capacitor may have blown? This would be fixable if you are handy with a soldering iron.

However, it could also be the flash ram that has expired, which is somewhat more serious. That said, if this was the case, presumably the software is held there also, so the symptoms would be much worse than timers getting lost.

Have you tried performing a first time install? I think this clears out the flash memory so may fix the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions. There really is nothing like a battery inside, I'll try a new install come the weekend and report back.

Farpoint's suggestion did the trick.
I still don't see anything like battery/sell.

Thanks all,
Nigel

I'm glad one of my suggestions finally worked I tend to do a first time install every few months or so and it seems seems to keep my boxes in tip top condition
