Apologies is this is a repeat thread- if it is please point me in the direction of the other and I'll be happy to move there - I did a search and found nothing so....

Anyhoo, was listening to my iPod today and came across Colourblind by the Counting Crows. Think it is a really beautiful song and wondered if it would be any good for a dance on Strictly... Thought maybe the rumba, as the lyrics would fit with the 'pull away, pull back' aspect of the dance, but am a complete dancing pleb when it comes to knowing whether it would actually work for the rumba or not.....My one reservation is whether the singers may butcher one of my favourite songs....!

Wondered if anyone else had any favourite songs that they would like to see a dance to on Strictly?

I'd love to see a dance to "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", the Buble version - think it'd be a good cha cha? (She says uncertainly!)

didn't Dom and Lilia do one to that last year?

I think Matt and Nicole do "Candyman" don't they? Fab!

Ellie, I listened to that song, my (highly!!!!!!!!) inexpert impression is that it would be very slow (= difficult) for a rumba, but could possibly be a wonderful one with a really skilful couple.

I know that Matthew and Nicole used to use it in demonstrations - there are a couple of YouTube videos out there. Although more recently they were using Jump, Jive and Wail - fabulous.

To answer the question, there is a lovely Dar Williams song, It Happens Every Day, which I think would make a lovely rhumba, although I have never actually tried counting it properly. And just because I have that sort of sense of humour, a VW to Tom Lehrer's Wienerschnitzel Waltz.

This is only because I happen to have just listened to this track, but Kevin Lyttle, 'Turn Me On' would suit a Samba I think.

LMAO

I think it's been said before - but a tango to the Masochism Tango could be very funny. I could imagine Lilia pulling that off!

Have any couples done 'Let's Dance' by Chris Montez or 'C'mon Everybody' by Eddie Cochran???

Yes, and so, in an entirely different way, could Ian.

You might actually be able to get a waltz out of Poisoning Pigeons in the Park, now I think about it. Ooh, a Tom Lehrer season on Strictly, bliss!

It's still 'Tubular Bells' or 'Anyone Who Had A Heart' from the last time a thread posed this question.

I'm sure there's a Radiohead song that would be an interesting challenge too...but the name escapes me.

I'd rather you gave me something else Miss Flute, but a gold star will do

Was it 'No Surprises'? I heard a merged version of that and Louis Armstrong singing 'What a Wonderful World' to day while stuck in a hospital waiting room. It worked bizarrely well!

Before you go suggesting songs consider this...

Will the band do the song justice???

That singer could not get the high notes in 'Little Green Bag' on Saturday night and it ruined Vincent and Rachel's dance for me.

I'm not giving Sid back my gold star but I'll have yours too please Sarah!

Another song I'd like danced to would be Perfect Day - a Vienese waltz maybe?
