Diana Vickers is forcing Simon to rip up the script, and eat his words too
Diana was never pencilled in to win this year's X-Factor. Alexandra hot favourite, plus Austin strong contender, put in as two of the first four acts of the night, leaving the dreaded kiss of death for Girlband and Danni Evans as the other two weak acts in the first four, and hence being pushed subtlely towards the X-Factor trap door. It didn't go to plan, as there just aren't votes out there for groups of girls.
Alexandra and Austin up first, and then Laura put on the very last to close out the night, Diana was the least favoured of the three, getting the middle draw. (Alexandra was put up early with the expectancy that she was way too strong to be at risk). Straight in came Simon's cheesy pre-scripted line about Diana being like "Marmite, people are either going to love it or hate it", followed by the choice his scriptwriters had given him to choose either love or hate, when he says "Diana, I loved it". However, he deviates from the pre-written script, goes into detail, and then says "I actually thought it was fantastic". http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=olIOyG...eature=related Reminiscent vocally of the girl from the Cranberries in my book (Dolores O'Riordan?), I actually really hope she wins. She's absolutely brilliant. Problem is that the voters are tedious, and will inevitably vote with their oestrogen for austin and eggnog, the latter having the cutesy george sampson factor. Leona ONLY got 62% against ray quinn's 38%. Crazy. Can't wait to buy Diana's album. |

Austin/Alexandra ... never meant to win the thing. You always get them positive editing a few that won't get it to mount up a bit of suspsene and surprise. You can see from the look of Austin he isn't strong enough or commercial enough for them. I think the "chosen ones" are probably Laura/Diana. |

That's shocking, IMO, she's hundreds of times a better vocalist than him (but saying that I did actually vote for Ray in the final, cos I met him in The Met Quarter lift in Liverpool that week)!! |

I agree about pre-scripted lines, but to be honest you have no idea what she was "pencilled" in for. They aren't always that blatent and sometimes like a dark horse to come through (just look at Rhydian). They may well love her to bits ... as a Diana fan i'm sure you wouldn't be complaining.
X-Factor is carefully constructed, and it didn't quite go to plan this week, with Danny Evans escaping the chop despite them wanting him in the bottom two with GirlBand. When Diana is in the middle four, she hasn't been pencilled in as the most desirable winner from the line-up. I hope that changes, and I think it may well do. As for Austin, well, if Leon can win, then any half decent white male has a massive advantage over female singers and groups. |

I think the public are behind her tbh. She has picked up a hell of a let of support online and in the real world, and I hope she gets to the top 5 cos she will be the most successfull this year I reckon.

I disagree about Austin, I do think he's gonna have stronger (than first thought) competition from Eoghan but I think Simon wants Austin to be his main guy.
& for me personally I think Austin is very strong, he doesn't just 'sing' he has soul. I do agree that Diana/Laura are hot faves, I don't even think Alex is as big a fave as peopl think, yes shes amazing, yes the judges praise her but theres just something missing & compared to the other girls in her category, shes same old same old really..not knocking that but its not like we haven't had millions of Whitney types on this show..we've NEVER had a Diana, a Laura OR an Austin. |

As for Austin, well, if Leon can win, then any half decent white male has a massive advantage over female singers and groups. I don't get how you say Diana is in the middle four - they don't read the results out in order so there's no indication - she could well have polled the most votes. I also don't know where you are getting they wanted Danny out, i would have said more Scott with Danny to follow in coming weeks. I guess it is just your assumption or opinions on this. It is carefully constructed but the rehearsals are watched carefully, the public feedback from the audition shows is monitored carefully ... they know exactly what is happening on the night and majority of the times you think they don't its because they are deliberately throwing out curveballs - they don't want the show to be as easily predictable as people have come to know the format. Anything can happen right now, if not Diana i can even see them having Ruth come through, but i'd say judging by how popular Diana has been and her Youtube views it is obvious there is mass support for her way above most of the others. |

LOL, she's only done 1 song and that was in a style that suited her.
She could be completely crap in the rest of the series as could any of them. Lets wait and see how she copes with different genres. |

Simon has eulogised over Diana since day 1. It's clear she's one of his big favourites from all his comments and the production of the shows leading upto Saturday. He hasn't had to rip up anything. His ideal last three would be Diana, Laura and Alexandra. Your middle four theory is conspiracy theory claptrap of the highest order. |

Can't wait to buy Diana's album. My mistake. The irony, though, of you imposing your opinion on others in a post where you bitch about Simon for doing the same. |

I think diana was a fave actually before the show. I sincerely doubt he wanted alexandra to win after having leona winning last year and having her on his books.
Laura and diana and austin were the producer faves i think. |

Totally agree with you - I think if he is going for a female winner this year he will pick someone who is a completely different type than Leona.

Sorry I don't agree OP.
Before the auditions were even aired Simon said he was looking for something different this year. |

I think the script is going fine, if he didn't want her to be there she wouldn't be there simple as that.
