Thin red lines across screen of 32" CRT television
I have a 6-year-old Thomson widescreen CRT, 100 hertz. Recently it's developed permanent thin red lines running horizontally across the screen. The lines are right down the screen, about an inch apart, and they toe-in slightly from the edges at the centre of the screen.
The red lines are not always visible, really only showing on black or grey backgrounds. I also seem to be able to fade them a little by setting the TV to 4:3 instead of 16:9 or automatic. Did a bit of research online and found a possible explanation of a faulty "flyback transformer" on the circuit board? If so it seems this may be available as a spare-part. Can anyone with TV repair knowledge confirm if this may be what's causing the horizontal red lines, or is there another fault? |
