PS3 Sound Question
A Question with regards to Playback of Blu-rays on the PS3. Currently i connect my PS3 via hmdi to my LCD TV then optical output to my Yahamah RX-V363 amp. What boxes do i tick in sound settings in the PS3 menu of course i want Dolby Digital but it also has an option for DTS5.1 and also linear PCM 2 Ch 176.4 KHZ . Do i just tick all the boxes and then just save them, or just tick Dolby Digital 5.1 Ch. Any advice would be most helpful.

There are two ways in which you can do this.
You can let the PS3 auto configure the sound settings or you can do it manually. For the PS3 to set this automatically just follow the on screen prompts in audio settings. To set it manually and for basic BD playback via optical/bitstream you will need DD5.1 and DTS 5.1 selected. Not all DVD's supply the DTS soundtrack, but when they do you will need to go into the DVD menu and select it manually, it can normally be found in audio setup, but sometimes it can be found in setup, or languages, all depends on how they label the menu structure. |
