Trying to lose weight/casseroles and stews
lambing
15-10-2008
I need to lose some weight (about a stone and a half) and as winter is near I'm thinking of soups/casseroles and stews.

I know they're healthy but do they have to be fattening foods? Can anyone suggest some recipes that are low in fat while still being tasty please?

Please note, I'm very allergice to pepper (white or black, it makes me really ill) but love all herbs.

Thanks

Oh I don't like couscous!! Thanks anyway though.

I'm looking for casseroles/stews and soups anyway.

Edit and I love curries, but can't think of any that aren't high in calories or fat.

It depends on how you make it. If you don't use ghee then curries can be perfectly healthy.

The holy trinity (i.e. celery, onion and carrots) sweated in a bit of oil. Add chunks of butternut squash and a few peeled and chopped pears. Add a bit of curry powder. Boil until tender and then liquidise. YUM

Most stew and casserole recepies have pepper in them but you don't need to add it if you don't want to.

A big pot of vegetable stew lasts me 3 days. It just gets better and better. Cheap, simple to make and virtually no fat.

Just made another pan full of veg soup

I like just veg but my daughter and hubby like it made with ham stock cubes

I make a couple of small dumplings for them (W.W. 1 point each) when they are cooked I mash them into the soup as it thickens it up lovely

I dont know how many calories it is but it only works out to 5 points for a big pan full ( about 8 bowls full)

you can make a 0 point soup

You won't lose fat by not eating any fat, just the opposite. This is a starvation meal with no protein or fat that will just make the body crave more food.

I don't eat like that all the time, just when I want a bit of a detox. Also that won't be the only thing I eat in the day, i'll also have a breakfast and lunch.
