I got one of these on friday, gotta say im impressed with it, really good build and one of the best interfaces on a phone ive seen. Plus a proper full internet browser(ie, full facebook, ebay screens).. maybe it doesnt look the best but the features out weigh that..

Had my G1 since launch, and i'm very impressed with it. Very stylish phone in the flesh. Well built and solid construction. Battery is fine. Android is very impressive.

£40 a month is a lot to pay for it. Why dont tmobile offer more tariffs?

No more expensive than an iPhone (remember you have to pay a min of £99 up front for iPhone) or a Blackberry overall.

i wonder how tought the phone is? I have distroyed many a mobile but I use smartphone platforms a lot, didn't like the iphone at all as it didnt do what i needed of it plus it just felt a bit breakable, my only one that has survied is my spvc500 that died last month, it even survived a fall of 19 m from my rigging harness . I like windows mobile but tempted to try android.

Thanks for the link. Going from the review, it's not for me at all. I'll go as far as saying I don't see it being a mainstream proposition for a long time, if ever.

I have to say these phones are not as ugly as people might think. The images dont do them justice at all. I thought they looked quite cool. They are a little plain looking but it's not about the appearance of the phone, its about the OS and functionality.

Think i'm going to wait for the G2 though, let them iron the bugs out.

I do prefer the black phone to the white though.

I'd echo the sentiments that the phone is not ugly. In the flesh, anyway - the photographs are horrible.

Mine's sitting on my desk waiting for my unlock code to come through. I'll be damned if I'm going back to not getting any calls in my living room due to crap reception on tmo.

Mine's going back after having had it for just a few days. Firstly, I can't set my memory card as a USB storage device, which means I can't save music etc. The option to do so just isn't there. Spent almost an hour on the phone with the T-mobile guy before he agreed that the phone was dodgy. Also, messaging is rather poor as one can't even forward a text message. Nice phone, but I won't be getting it again.

To forward a text, just do a long hold on the message, NOT the conversation, you want to forward, and the option pops up.

You don't have to set anything to get the memory card to act as storage. It just works. Plug it into your PC by USB, the phone will beep and an icon will pop up in the notification bar. Look at the notificaion, and it'll ask you if you want the phone to MOUNT. Press yes. Phone pops up on the PC as a Removable Drive.

Thank you very much Magic Monkey, who'd have thought the solutions could be so easy??? Ok, looks like I might be keeping this phone after all, will still send this back and get the black instead.

Have to agree ,the G1 is a great phone. I've had an iPhone for a year and i actually feel like i've upgraded literally. Theirs just so much to investigate with this phone. The touch screen works very well and nothing has crashed on the phone since i bought it 2 weeks ago. I love the fact you get over the air updates and you dont have to connect it to a computer. Apparently there are great things to come for this phone, with the next 0S updates and in Android Market.

Thanks for that, you've just solved my only issue with my G1.

Am I the only one who loves their WHITE G1? The black just isn't as nice in my eyes (which are normally more drawn to black gagets ie DS Lite)
