Thank you,
I also should have mentioned that the phone line has been in for around 20 years, will this make any difference? I have managed to get my hands on an NTE5 with the piper logo, you can see which wires have been previously wired to A+B, looks like blue to B and white to A. Is it also true I can just look to see whats wired to 2 and 5 in my box now? Thanks again. |

lol,
well i took a reading of the router stats as follows: Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,325 / 8,323. then we set about moving the socket. We noticed the ring wire (i think) was still connected, so disconnected that first, still had a dialling tone and no noise at all on the quiet line test. Then moved the socket as planned, and now have (the extension reading the same as the master socket): Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,325 / 15,920. So thanks openreachpeep, its just a bit scary not knowing if you're gonna get connected again after making "the snip" ![]() Very pleased with the speed increase
