Gadget Insurance

Hi, has anyone got any advice on insuring my ipod, digital camera and phone at somewhere like insuregadgets.com?

I'm paying £6.99 just for my mobile phone insurance with vodafone and this would work out cheaper but I'm rather cautious because I found plenty of websites that offer it (gizmoguard.co.uk, insureandsmile.com) of these websites look to be backed by any official 'heard of' institution as such and I just dont think I trust them.

I've broke 2x digital camera LCD's recently which worked out very expensive for me and I just want piece of mind !!

Personally I think you are better with house insurance that covers this rather than paying a monthly fee for each individual product.

The excess on my house insurance is £50 though so doesn't really help when facing a £70 repair charge for a broken LCD screen. I would also lose many many years no claims bonus making the whole claim thing pointless.

The £6.99 a month covers up to 3 gadgets up to £300 each so I think that's worth it. I'm really looking for some company reputation or advice on a reputable company offering this service.

If you were to break a gadget and claim you may be required to claim 50% from your house insurance and 50% from the gadget insurance as both polices would cover it.

Argos offer a good 3 year warranty if you bought it from them?
No quibble returns or very rarely repair.

If you claim once though even if its at the begining of the 3 years, the policy pays out and then the policy is cancelled. the following is from the Argos website

4. If the settlement is made because the product is considered uneconomical or not possible to repair, then:
a) Allianz Schemes may take the product from you; and
b) the cover will end and the Confirmation of Cover should be returned to Allianz Schemes.
