Anyone got a Pioneer Kuro plasma ? Saw a 50" 8 series vs 9 series the other day and the 9 looked much better.

Any owners here, let us know what you think of it.

It can't be much better, the 8 kuro was the best TV you could ever make, try AV forums Seriously, you might be looking at 2 different age sets. I have seen them side by side, calibrated, and would not have been able to tell them apart without the sensor. The 9 is measurably better, by maybe 3-4% in terms of contrast, ie real world difference in light output between blackest black and whitest white. I don't supoose colour accuracy is better, nor greyscale tracking, an area that Pioneer are less than perfect on. More perfect than most mind you. The only 'better' in terms of colour accuracy, but not contrast, is the PF panasonic professional panel.

I thought the Kuro 9s were going to be using panasonic panels rather than pioneers own? Or hasnt that started yet?

Pioneer have ceased production of all their plasma panels except their 50"+.

I have no idea what generation panel this will be when it's filtered through to the high street.

I assume they will be using up the panels produced before pulling out all together.
