How Do Standard Call Charges Vary between Sky, Virgin and BT?

Once you have stripped away the free calls to other landlines and so forth, are the basic daytime call charges between all three networks significantly different when calling to a local landline?

Also, what about for mobiles? Nobody seems to include mobiles in their free bundles, so who offers the cheapest rate for landline to mobile calls?

I'd appreciate any responses.

Virgin Media have Talk Anywhere tariffs that include calls to all numbers except 090x premium.

For the other packages on VM, then mobiles are quite high, even with the saver add on they aren't great, VM are very expensive call wise.

From a BT landline using Call 18185 you can get weekday calls to mobiles for 6p/min + 5p connection.

If you have a BT landline then you can use Primus Saver 2 and opt for Penny Mobile, which gives you calls to UK mobiles (including 3) for 20p for up to 20 mins.

Daytime calls on Virgin Media are 4p/min from BT it is 4.25p/min however you wouldn't use VM for those calls you'd pass them through Call 18185 if you are wise.

From a BT line using 18185 a call to a landline is 5p per call (yes, 5p for as long as you want) from a VM line using 18185 it is 1p/min + 4p connection.

VM rip you off for calls to 0845 and 0870, always worth checking say no to 0870. If you are stuck with using the 0870 or 0845 number then go through 18185 if you have a VM line.

I too am a grateful user of 18185.
I think they are the best all rounder, and I have never had a problem accessing their services like on some of the cheaper services.

Sorry, you are right I was getting confused with the 3.25p it was I think.

As a point of interest, non-inclusive (i.e. weekday daytime) 01, 02 and 03 calls on Primus Saver are 3p per minute - and they still operate a minimum call charge (4p) rather than slapping on a 7p 'call set-up' fee or connection charge like most (all ?) the others now do.

Hence, a 1 minute 59 second call via BT costs 15p (7p + 2 x 4p) but on Primus it costs 6p.

OTOH, I suspect there won't be many who've converted to using a CPS calls provider who don't also use 18185 (or 1899, 18866).
