Wow! That's quite a bit of a rant!

In a twisted sort of way, that's rather gratifying read!

Brendan, please put on your best behaviour on Saturday night, and kiss Lisa for me, will ya?

The worst thing was - Lisa was genuinely delighted with the scores - she'd done so much better than in her previous dance and she was obviously thrilled with the comments and the scores.

But no, Brendan wasn't happy to get straight 8's for week two! Showing a considerable improvement wasn't enough for him! And I think this must have made Lisa feel a bit rubbish.

He does have a ME,ME,ME attitude - when he dances I feel it's all about him - the fact that he's had model partners the last couple of years makes him look rather smug when he's dancing and I don't actually like to watch him.

Shame really, as I said on another thread - I find him quite endearing really on ITT sometimes when he's just being himself.

Like someone else said - he could take a leaf out of Darren's, Ian's, Matt's, Vincent's, Brian's and shamefully, even James' book this series!”

Hi Mama

This is precisely how I feel about Brendan.

There's always something with him. He never just lets his dancing do the talking.

There are dancers who I do not like much but I don't start a thread about how crap I think they are. I have a life.

Why do you care about some bloke on the telly you think is an ass, enough to bother? There are lots of asses out there.”

Hi Anna,

If you've heard all this stuff before then I suggest you avoid threads like this in future.

Those of us that aren't so keen on Brendan are well within our rights to say so.

I certainly haven't seen any negative threads about the man on this forum so far this year - but I've seen TWO appreciation threads dedicated to him.

Time to re-address the balance I think

another one who is fed up with Brendan.

I feel sorry for Lisa who seems a very pleasant person. I do get the impression that she is getting mightly cheesed off from here due to the various bits of footage we have seen over the last few weeks.

However, as much as I do feel sorry for Lisa, I do kinda hope that they will be in the bottom two every week. It was the same year with Brendan and Kelly Brendan is just too annoying and ungrateful for my liking.

Cherry,

He seems to be wearing Lisa down. Yes the other girls are cracking under the pressure too, but the way their partners respond is so notably different. Brendan just gets irritated.

All I see in Lisa's eyes is a fear of cheesing Brendan off. She doesn't seem to be enjoying the experience half as much as some of the others. He puts far too much pressure on her.

I wouldn't mind seeing them leave soon - if only to put Lisa out of her misery.

What about the rather negative "Brendan looked furious thread"? I seem to recall a certain Sid_1979 posting on that one!

Much as I love Brendan's dancing and enjoy him being part of SCD, I don't particularly want to see too many threads about him on the forum - positive or negative. One of each is enough for me but where folks have freedom to act then we should expect them to do so!

I can't wait to see Brendan and Lisa's AS and whatever his reaction afterwards it will no doubt provoke even more debate.

I think I'll let the Mods decide how many threads dedicated to the pros are acceptable

I hope for Lisa's sake that she pulls off a decent AS - I wouldn't like to be in her dancing shoes if she doesn't.

To be fair, so far Brendan has done very classy ASs (sorry if the acronyms makes some kind of a rude pun!). Cases in point: I still remember Claire's Blue Moon number and Kelly's (three-freaking-lifts-notwithstanding) classy black-gown number.

BUT, that said, how would he react this time when he receives eights from the judges?

THAT will be interesting to watch!

Sid, why do you start a thread like this? Do you just enjoy winding up the girls from the Brendan Appreciation thread? Brendan was my favourite pro dancer up until this season. I decided last year that although I believed the video clips were designed to portray him as the bad boy of SCD, and that he's probably a really nice guy, he was too willing to go along with them and play the pantomime villain. The AS with Kelly was beautiful but it finished them off in the competition because of one small lift which would have been forgotten had it been say Matt Cutler.

Spinaker,

As long as I don't insult anybody on the forum, I'm well within my rights to start a thread on whatever Strictly-related topic I want. I don't need to be questioned by you or anyone else ta very much.

I've been polite in my replies and have accepted all points of view.

I feel strongly about Brendan's behaviour and I should be able to express my views. If you find my thread offensive, then report it or ignore it.

Tears and tantrums aside, I just can't see how Lisa will be in trouble on Saturday. Call me naive, but I actually think she's in good hands this Saturday!

It's the scores I can't get over with. Potty eights!

I don't think I've ever seen a bad American Smooth on Strictly. It seems to be a dance that allows freedom and that the celebrities instantly fall in love with

And Brendan should have been very happy with his 8's! A little bit of modesty would go a long way.

Not completely true ~ in his AS with Carol Matthew got penalised for putting in what was classed by the judges as a lift, and he was marked down~ but it was thought that he put it because under dancing comp rules it wouldn't have been counted as a lift (less than two beats, below knee level, iirc) ~ so Matthew did get penalised for a 3rd lift in the AS.

Strangely, they must have changed their rules, because the exact same move has been used by Andrew & Ola and Matthew & Christina this series, with nothing said about it.

Apologies for being off topic, but just wanted to butt in with that

If you want to nit-pick, I think you could add Austin and Erin's jive into this as well. What about Cherie and Jame's rhumba? Both cases the women's feet were clearly off the floor! Oh yes, who can forget last year's Gabby and James' jive?

I'm not nit-picking . Do my posts rub you up the wrong way or something?

I'm simply stating that Matthew did get penalised for a third lift in an AS. This is a general observation in response to a suggestion that Matthew would probably get away with a third lift. I'm merely recalling an occassion when he didn't. He thought it wasn't a lift under competition rules, the judges said it was = penalised.

And I am genuinely confused that A&O, and Matthew himself have both used the identical move this series without problem. Not similar moves, or other instances of feet being off the floor. The EXACT same move. Hence I guess the rules have been changed on that since series 4. Personally I don't care if someone's feet come off the floor or not, I'm just puzzled by the judges' inconsistency on it.

You are too sensitive, dancingbearbear! I think you stay in the 'non-appreciation' thread too long and lost a lot of sense of humour!

At a risk of sounding too flippant, let me spell it out: I say: IF, If you want to nick-pick. Did I mean you nickpick? No. Actually I agreed with you in most of what you've said. I added also others where they have the feet off the ground that went unnoticed (albeit not the same 'move' you described) but basically I am 'adding' to your lists of 'unpenalised' 'lifts'.

Need I say more? Maybe I should...

And the other time when your post inspired me to write in a 'bash' thread (a fun parody thread that was meant precisely to laugh at those who actually DID bash the celebs unreasonably and unseasonably, not you, of course), you also get rather jumpy and iffy and defensive...?

My question I now ask: did someone hurt you lately? If so, then I am really sorry... Just don't hastily breathe fire and brimstone down unto others before clarification. A little benefit of doubt is often a healthier option.

Peace? *extends hand awaiting*

Why have any at all? I know he upsets some people but he's my fave. He always catches my eye in group dances. Brendan, Matthew and James seem a cut above in their pro dances. Brian has made a real impact too. I'm sure none of the people are exactly like the clips used by the BBC. Brendan seems nice enough when he's on ITT. He's a perfectionist but then I don't think any of them are there to go out early.

I am at a loss as to why this particular thread has even been opened...don't get me wrong I'm not against anti"whoever" threads,i believe anyone has the right to like or dislike anyone they choose but i genuinely do not see what everyone else seems to be talking about in reguards to his "behavior"in rehearsals shown on ITT??

i have watched it on i player just recently and to me they were having a normal, midweek tense rehearsal seen many many times with many different couples over the years!she couldnt grasp the steps,he was trying to get her to grasp them, she got emotional,he didnt....what happened that was soooo wrong?

Every single couple is having pretty much the same experience at this time midweek and plenty of other professionals get very angry and short with the celebs and have rows! why is Brendan any different? he didn't shout at her,he didn't insult her, he simply let her cool off and compose herself when see choose to leave the room because she got emotional.

many times i have seen the women and men pros get very angry and hostile and walk out but are they ever picked up for that behavior? the funny thing is that didn't even happen with Brendan this week so that's why I'm baffled at this thread really.

to even suggest(like some posters have) that lisa somehow seems very edgy around Brendan and some how is scared of unleashing the beast shall we say is utterly ridiculous..they are very close friends, probably one of the closet relationships Brendan has had on strictly and what happened in training was nothing!! just a normal tense rehearsal..nothing we haven't seen before by everyone else!!!

wow sorry for the rant didn't realize id typed for so long lol

Thank you Jude

I did indeed have a look to see if a thread regarding Brendan's behaviour had already been started - it hadn't.

I'm actually getting a bit tired of having to explain why I have a point of view on something. The topic of this thread is not a personal attack on any forum members, but an aspect of the show - I think you'll find that it therefore adheres to the terms and conditions of the site.

By all means disagree folks, but please don't expect posters to stifle their views just because they might offend some overly sensitive souls who cannot cope with their favourite pro or celebrity being criticised. Get a thicker skin or post elsewhere if that's the case.
